I have noticed that Edward has been producing softer stools the past two days.
Since reading your advice about canned pumpkin, I have always kept an eye out for it in the supermarket, but i have never really had the need for it. It mustn't be as common over here in Australia.
If i was to boil a normal pumpkin and mash it, do you think that it would suffice as a stool hardener?
Does the canned pumpkin have any extra ingredients in it that makes it a little more yummy for the kitties?
That is all that is in the can.
I agree Meghan, I've never seen canned pumpkin here. Its good to know we can just mash some up if need be! We used boiled chicken as a remedy but that can be rather expensive...
Thanks Jan and Jo/Pete (sorry i never know which one of you is talking

)
I just found something on the internet about baking then putting in the food processor. Which method do you think would be more tasty

??
I think baking and putting in the food processor would be good - if he will eat pumpkin at all (one of my girls will, one won't). I believe JanH has also said that IAMS hairball will help also -- do you have that over there?
Hehe, its usually Jo logged in as CandyKiss. Pete has his own login CandyKissPete lol
Solo loves canned pumpkin just the way it is and eats it like I am feeding him canned food (inhales it).
I think it is pretty tasty just by itself, I don't think mashing it or food processing it will really change the flavor..but the food processor I would think may make it more silky smooth and fluffy since more air will get mixed in?
Charlie loves canned pumpkin also. Make sure that you buy the one WITHOUT the added spices. Just plain canned pumpkin

I wonder if he will like it... He normally eats anything - but he's not a piggy with his food.
I think the reason his stools are so soft is because of the biscuits. I normally feed him a mixture of eukanuba and a small amount of science diet oral care. I ran out of the eukanuba and havent had a chance to get to the pet store. So i have been feeding them just science diet (i dont like the ingredients in these biscuits and only feed a small amount for their teeth)
Because he's not used to eating so much of the science diet, I think that's why his poos are a bit soft and stinky.
I'll check out whether they have IAMS hairball too. I might be able to buy a small bag instead of baking the pumpkin. I just dont know whether its a good idea to feed him a new type of biscuit to fix the poo problem, if the biscuits are whats causing it.
If you are already feeding Eukanuba, you may prefer trying Eukanuba Hairball Formula.
