I'm so sorry to hear of your Cardinals T, they are such beautiful birds! I have seen Scrub Jays raiding nests, perhaps it was them.. not sure.
The only times I have seen Cardinals was once in Tucson in Nov. when I was visiting my brother, and once at my Aunt and Uncles in Two Rivers, WI. I felt so blessed to have seen them!
Well darn!! I was so looking forward to seeing the baby Finches grow. Sorry Kitty, I know you feel bad too.

Its a bad day for birds
I had doves nesting in my palm trees outside and something raided their nest today. I have no idea what could have done it, killed one of the adults and the babies are all gone except one who fell out of the nest that we found dead by the tree this morning
Very very sad. I can't think of anything that would have been able to kill one of the adults, but I can see her dead up there.
Jenny, I am so sorry to hear about your poor dove family. It must have come as a terrible shock to find them like that, sighhhhhhhhhhhh..... Nature has no mercy. I love doves, it would make me sad and angry to lose a family of them. When our bluebird babies were killed years ago, the mother was blinded in one eye. She was probably trying to defend the babies.
Thank you Regina, Pepper and Jo. I am truly dreading telling the kids when they come home tomorrow, ughhhhh. We were all looking forward to the day when they began to learn how to fly, my son talks about it all the time.
I'm so sorry Kitty, it must be horrible having to tell your children too. They really are having a hard lesson in wildlife at the moment what with the baby birds and the mouse. It is so sad, I hope they are ok.
It's all too depressing. I know children are supposed to learn of this at some point, but I'm having a hard time with it all now.

Kitty, so very sorry that happened to the baby finches. I don't know why these things have to happen in nature. Jenny, that is so sad about the doves, too.
