Simone has two positions around the house - flat on her back, and on her stomach with her head hanging off the edge of whatever she's laying on. Now comes the problem, she lays like this and next thing you know her tongue is hanging out of her mouth and she's choking and making awful heaving sounds. THis continues until I go over and lift her head up and make her sit up. It's like she has no idea why she is choking! I always wonder, if I don't do that will she kill herself...but then again, maybe she does it when I'm not around and lives through it. Just drives me crazy!
Cat sleep apnea?

T, you made me jump with fright when I saw the title of your post! Sad I hv no idea why Simone is choking while flopping... Don't know if other people have similar experience... Hopefully someone will shed some light on this phenomenon and you will be able to fix this problem permanently...
Oh that Simone! All of her stories just crack me up! I don't know why she does this, but I'm glad you've saved her life so many times Wink
Here's a pic of her tonight with her head hanging. Thankfully she pulled it up and rolled over on her back before she started choking. However, I have my video camera handy in case she does it again tonight.

You must have got such a fright to hear her choking! Poor silly Simone.
She's so cute and what a character! Maybe she's just doing it now to get your attention!
Hehehe what a little clown. She's sounds like such an entertainment to have around the house.
Maybe she just does it to make you fuss over her - sneaky thing Tongue
Silly Simone. She makes me laugh. I'm always surprised at her photos and how dark a seal she is...I don't know why. She is such a beauty. BUT, back to the topic at hand....You could set up a nanny cam, and see if she does it while you're out, or if this is a Simone ploy for extra attention. She's probably laughing inside, saying, "hee, hee, I've got her worried again. Hmmm, what can I do now?"
Simone is one crazy cat!
