It would make life so much easier!
I believe it is generally felt that Pawpeds has more than its fair share of errors and that may have resulted in less interest in participation. For Ragdoll breeders, the certified pedigrees supplemented by the Genetic Chart as needed are probably relied upon most commonly.
I had heard there were a lot of errors on Pawpeds, that's where I got Dreamcats Mary Poppins from so I'm not even sure if there was such a cat, hence the enquiry on here.

I really hoped you might know Jan - any ideas where else I might find the answer please?
I do not have any leads for you. The best way is to find the breeders in the pedigree and contact them to see if they have pedigrees that will take you further back.
There is no Dreamcats Mary Poppins in pawpeds so why do you say you got her from pawpeds???
Why don't all of you who found errors in pawpeds send corrections to the maintainers?
Pawpeds are very useful! Not only pedigrees, there are many useful articles and coursers, a Paw Academy.
Because Ragdoll breeders who want to use such a central resource, and not all do, use the Genetic Chart that was established by Denny Dayton in the early days of the Ragdoll breed and has been maintained ever since for those who want a central record of all breeding Ragdolls for Ragdoll breeders. In TICA, and I assume in other registries as well, any owner can purchase a certified pedigree for her own cat.

Some breeders do not want to use an open pedigree system.

It seems PawPeds is used more by Ragdoll pet owners for fun rather than by breeders making breeding decisions. Some breeders may use PawPeds for broad brush information and then "get serious" by using certified pedigrees if they become interested in a kitten. No doubt this varies from country to country, but in the US, where the most and earliest breeders are, breeders do not seem to use PawPeds much.

Pawpeds is far from being an accurate Ragdoll database. The lady who maintains the Ragdoll site insisits she requires certified pedigrees to correct all her own errors. Wink

Many of Us know she lists many individual cats as Ragdolls when they are not. Wink JanH is correct! If you want accurate pedigree information of your Ragdolls purchase a CERTIFIED PEDIGREE from the registering Cat Association. Skip Pawpeds!

I'm sorry, my post was misleading, let me explain. When I purchased Lola I was given a four generation pedigree certificate but being inquisitive I decided to see if I could trace her ancestors back further via the internet. At this time, 4 years ago, I knew very little about ragdolls and was not a breeder myself so I just surfed the internet and came across Pawpeds. Through Pawpeds I found out that Dreamcats Mary Poppins was the dam of Dreamcats Amadeus who is Lola's great, great, great grandfather I believe. The name Dreamcats Mary Poppins came from Pawpeds but I can't trace it back any further, that's what I was trying to find out when I started this thread.
