I must have had some sort of premonition when I picked names for the kittens and chose Forget-Me-Not for this little guy. His pet name was Monty, just like his Grandad, and he was going to be my first stud boy.

I had spent weeks trying to work out how we would manage with an indoor stud but Stan (my husband) worked out how we could reshuffle all of the rooms upstairs so that what is now a small office could become his room where he could stay when girls were calling. Not ideal I know but I so wanted to keep this little man, he was My Little Man!

On Tuesday he was his normal self, playing with his siblings and getting up to normal kitten mischief but on Wednesday morning he was listless and panting a lot. He got progressively worse throughout the day and despite our best efforts he died from respiratory failure leading to cardiac arrest at 23:00.

I miss my Little Man Monty so much, more than I ever thought I would. I've lost cats before but mainly to old age and this seems so much worse.

I love you Monty and I will never, ever forget you. Sleep sweetly little man x x

I'm so sorry to hear about his passing. We were all pulling for him! We've lost two little ones this week, it's just not right. I hope you get some answers after you get the results of his autopsy, and that it was just a fluke thing, and none of your other kitties will be affected.

Oh my goodness, I have tears running down my face right now for you Jane! I'm so sorry you had to lose your Little Man! I can't imagine how heartbreaking to lose one after such a short time together.

Poor baby. That's so sad. :-(
