i realize this thread is probably a bit juvenielle and silly - but after losing meeko at just 10 months old when i thought he was completely healthy, i'm a bit spooked....
can i ask people to quickly post if they've had a healthy ragdoll who has lived a long life? i may worry about newman less if i can see that there are ragdolls out there who are "seniors" and been mostly healthy their whole lives.
I don't think it is silly at all and I'm going to follow it.
Our first Ragdoll lived to be just short of 16. Our oldest now are 14, 13 and 12.
My IRCA cats were 17 and 18.
I think it's a great thread as well and will continue to follow it also.
I'm so happy you brought this up. Sometimes I get a little worried over all the cat illness's we hear about.
It is very interesting.
I hope others will continue to post, especially those with senior Raggies.
Max is my first Raggie and he is only 7 mo. I will also follow this thread. Thank you for posting it.
I don't like to consider Samantha a "senior" but I guess she is. She will turn 9 in a couple of months and in the 5 years I've had her (she was a retired breeder), other than going for health checks yearly, she has only been to the vet one time for an illness. Oh, and I took her once when there was nothing wrong with her -- I thought she was losing weight, but she'd actually gained. Based on health records I obtained from her breeder, she had only been to the vet once when I got her -- that was to be neutered (the breeder gave her own vaccinations and didn't take for wellness checks --as I've said before -- she wasn't the best of breeders as I now know).
Simone is 6 years old and seems to be healthy, She's had a few issues, usually with eye infections of some sort.
This is a great thread, thanks for posting. I will follow it too.
