I just saw some lovely pics of Anna's boys, Moby and Hershey... I saw that their toe tufts are sooo long and nice... Will the ragdolls have difficulty to run and stop with the long toe tufts? Is it "slippery" for them? What do you guys normally do to your ragdoll's toe tufts? Trim or not to trim? I know for dogs, groomers will definitely trim away the toe tufts... I also trim my shelties' toe tufts... But I really have no idea about cats' toe tufts.. Any advice or comments is appreciated.. Smile
I've never really thought about trimming them to be honest. I think they are gorgeous and the boys don't seem to care. Jasper, especially, has long toe tufts and the only time I notice slipping and sliding is when he runs after his hairtie to fetch it and he seems to enjoy that because he keeps coming back for more!
I LOVE Dakota's toe tufts and would never trim them--he seems to really like cleaning them, and I don't think they ever caused a slipping problem for him. As a matter of fact, I was really sad when I came home one day and found that my hubby had to trim his toe hairs on one of his back paws because he got poo on it (-: His are pretty long too---you can see the tufts in my signature sorta!!
Do not trim. They are no more slippery than the pads.
I think a main reason dogs toe tufts are trimmed is because they go outdoors a lot. The toe tufts soak up water and increase the chances of yeast infections in the dogs paw pads, so it is a sanitary thing. Cats, even when they do go outdoors, will lick themselves clean so I really couldn't think of any reason to NEED to trim the paw hairs, other than for preference in the way they look.
I love their toe tufts as well! Personally I see no reason to trim them, and I love to tickle them often...they are so cuteSmile
Oh, I could NEVER trim the toe tufts! I LOVE them!!!
I too would nevery trim the toe tufts. No reason to and they are sweet.

I'm glad you brought this up. I've wondered the same thing.
Thk you for your advice... If I were to do a poll here, I guess it will be 100% "do not trim" vs 0% "trim"... Smile So, the answer is very obvious already... Another lesson learnt for me... Thks! Smile
