My old English forum Raggie friends will indeed know why I'm lighting a candle to Volturnus, the Roman God of Water as we seem yet again to have offended the plumbing pixies.

Not only is Wet-room refit No 3 currently underway but the hot water pipe under the bath upstairs chose to break to add to the chaos. Hubby and I were like the Keystone Cops as we tried to cope with the indoor monsoon landing perilously close to the new grand piano. Hearing loud wails, I ran to find hubby to find him in an outstretched position desperately trying to catch the ceiling as it fell Rolleyes

What a to-do!

So the assessors have visited and seem very fair. They have offered to give us alternative accommodation whilst it is being fixed, but we will not upset the animals and want to stay at home. This may mean us all moving upstairs into the back bedroom Big Grin if they find asbestos in the damaged Artex as the music room will have to be sealed Rolleyes

The grand piano will have to be moved out as the whole ceiling has to come down, ceiling and walls dried with dehumidifiers. Then we will have a new ceiling, new plaster coving, new redecoration, new rug.

What a to-do.......
My goodness Liz, it seems that water is definitely out to get you!! Where in the world do you move a grand piano to for all of this? And you won't be able to give lessons for a while either then, will you? How are all the fur kids adapting to the disruption?

Hope that the contractors prove to be quicker and more faithful than the one you had for the first project!!!!!!
P.S..... is Flo out of hibernation yet?
Geeez you do have a mess. I hope things will get fixed promptly and you'll be back to normal soon.
Wow, no kidding about lighting a candle! That is a big mess, but I'm glad you have people coming in to fix it soon (and redecoration is always fun Big Grin )

It's going to be stored back at the piano studios it came from (we're in battles to get the insurance to pay for transportation!)

They can all have theory lessons, I can still teach violin, and I will borrow a keyboard from someone so I can hear their scales

They are all fine. In fact Socks is a hero as it was his fleece on top of the piano which stopped any damage to the piano. So far no big disruption; we'll all go and hide in the back bedroom when the ceiling comes down and turn the volume up on the TV!!

We've had a brilliant builder re the wet-room refit. We were so careful in choosing the right one. That will be finished Tuesday.

.S..... is Flo out of hibernation yet?

Flo is fine, still breathing, bless after this cold winter, but not ready to wake up yet as it's still cold. We're getting her house ready for her this weekend with clean straw xxxxxxx Miss her, can't wait to have her back.
Sounds like it's been an eventful time at yours then Liz!! Seriously, I hope all goes well and it soon gets restored to it's original grandeur, piano and all. Lets hope the insurance company pull their finger out and get the grand piano the transport it requires before the rest of the ceiling comes down!!
Ugh, so sorry to hear of your water woes.. been there.. but ours was not as severe. The ex left the upstairs laundry sink running. Flooded half the upstairs, the water ran through the ceiling into the garage.. what a mess.

Hope you get lots of help.. I am guessing that you have the big (noisy) heaters and fans going everywhere?
Hope the major renovation will be over soon... Maybe you can buy some ear plugs to reduce the sounds...
