Hi Guys:
I have a 12 month old ragdoll that i adore. I am getting ready to bring home a new ragdoll kitty that happens to be his brother from the same parents.
I am a bit nervous about the introduction and want to make sure that i do this right.
I had a few quesions/concerns:
1. Should they each have their own litter box/water bowl/food bowl?
2. When i bring the new kitty home, do i let my older cat be with him right away or do i need to wait to introduce them ?
3. Shoul i keep the new kitty in his own room for a while or is it ok to let them hang out together as soon as i bring him home?
4. Can they play with the same toys or should i get the new kitty his own toys?
Any advice or suggestions would be greatluy appreciated
Aleir

Hi and welcome to the forum. I would suggest that you keep your new cat separate from you old for a while with his own litterbox and food bowls. Later when the introductions are complete, you can combine their things - but I would still keep two food bowls and either a water fountain they both can drink out of or two water bowls. I know my girls tend to eat and drink at the same time from separate dishes though. The rule of thumb is supposed to be one litter box for each cat and one extra - I have two cats though and only two litterboxes and that seems to work ok, but I'd never go less than 1 litterbox per cat in the house.
Keep introductions slow. They may be littermates, but chances are they won't remember each other as such. See how your resident cat acts after you bring the new one home and put him in the room. That may tell you how things may go.
I'm sure others will have advice for you, but again, welcome to the forum and I hope we get to see your raggies.
Hi Aleir, welcome to the forum.
When introducing a new kitten it is always best to have 2 sets of everything. You definitely need separate feeding bowls and litter trays and would be better assuming that they need a slow introduction. You should always have a saf room for the kitten and ideally introductions should be taken slowly with them meeting through the door first, getting used to each others scents and noises before face-to-face introductions. Bedding can be swapped between after a day or so to enable them to become familiar with the scent of the other cat/kitten. Litter trays are especially important as some cats refuse to share litter trays and you don't want to start bad toileting habits for the sake of adding one or two more litter trays. The general rule with litter trays is one per cat and one extra. It is always best to start this way as it can be much harder to re-introduce them happily if they don't take to one another. Hopefully it will all go smoothly though and many members of the forum will tell you that they had no problem introducing a new kitten.
I'm sure if I've missed anything someone else will soon be along to tell you.
Good luck, and I hope we get to see photos of them both soon

Wow, what a gorgeous pair, which is which?
Welcome to the forum. I'm confused. Are the pictures the same cat? Milo right? You will be bringing home Wally who is Milo's brother. Right? They have the same parents, but were they in the same litter? I'll be waiting to hear Friday how it all goes. Again welcome.
