I hadn't had QUITE enough drama this week, ha ha. When I got back from dropping the kids at school, one of my neighbors was standing out front with her little toddler. She said that her CO alarm had gone off, and told her to get to fresh air. She was waiting on the fire department. They called PG&E, who came.. inspected her furnace and found dangerous levels of carbon monoxide. They disconnected her furnace and capped the gas line. They came to my place next, opened up the furnace cover.. ran their detector around it and the alarm went off instantly. I do have a CO alarm, thanks to my boyfriend but it had not gone off, I need to check it.. it's brand new has new batteries! Anyway, they said that my apartment had dangerous CO levels as well.. we were, and are very, very fortunate. So, I have no furnace for now.. but a log in the fireplace and a space heater that they lent me. I am sitting in front of the fireplace for warmth, and the space heater is in the kid's room. I think they will be here tomorrow with the new furnace, so all is well.

I am really ready for my spa day!

Forgot to mention that my neighbor has had strong fumes in her apt. for several days, thank GOD she and her son did not have a tragedy. I think she might have called the fire dept. sooner.. or PG&E, but if she had not called them today, we could have had our own bad ending, shudder..
Carbon monoxide is soooooo dangerous! I'm glad your neighbor's alarm went off at least and everyone is safe!
Thank goodness for that neighbour! So glad you're all safe! Oh Kitty- you've been down in the dumps latelySad I hope you can catch a break soon!
By the way, I really like the new signature Smile Its almost Friday...enjoy your spa day!
Oh my gosh, that was a close call, thank goodness everything was ok.. and you are going to invest in a detector, no?
Gosh! I am so relieved all is okay KittySmile I hope things look up for you soon darln' Smile
That is so scary as it is such a silent killer. I'm so glad the neighbor wasn't on vacation and made the call so yours could be checked too.

Thank you Matt, it's been a roller coaster week. My break comes tomorrow morning at the beautiful Claremont Spa. My dad used to have his office at the hotel, so it's a special place for me.

Hey Alisha! I actually have a detector. Christian bought it for me and installed it a few months ago. I even tested it recently. I am guessing that it may not be close enough to the furnace.. but it's within 5'. I'll ask PG&E about the recommended distance.

Thank you Kim, I should have a quiet day today. The kids will be going to Sacramento after school with their dad for the weekend. It will be quiet around here. I may run to Livermore to see Christian and Neutrino after my spa time on Fri.

I know T.. it could have been really bad. I was worried about my next door neighbor who did not answer her door but I am pretty sure that she was at work. I noticed that someone was in the apt. manager's office working at 11:30 last night (which they never do).. they are probably worried about lawsuits. I read that there can be permanent heart damage from CO exposure. I may have to have the kids into the Dr. for a blood work up.
Kitty - That is too scary and close for comfort. You are all lucky. I'm glad you're okay, and just cold.
Kitty, I'm so glad you are ok. You are due some good things happening to you. Close call, but happy ending. I like your sig. It's fun with the picture of the human. After all the fur-babies can't have all the limelight. lol!
