Hi all
Brand new on the forum and as yet not a Raggie owner. I'm hoping to get my first ragdoll this summer so am looking into breeders here in Holland at the moment. I just wanted to ask if there are any more specific questions I should be asking. I've already been in touch with about 5 breeders in my area all of whom are registered with the Royal Dutch Ragdoll Society, provide pedigrees, don't let the kittens go before 13 weeks, test for all hereditary diseases and all the cats are house pets. Also, they will let me go and meet the adults whenever I want to get a feel for the parents and the breed as a whole (I've had lots of cats in the past but never a Raggie).
So any points, tips or tricks would be most appreciated.
PS: Loving reading your stories of your kitties on here

Hi and welcome to the forum. It sounds like you've done your research and know what you're looking for. Only other thing you may want to do is to get some references and talk to some other who have received kittens from these breeders. Ask if they'd go back to them again.
Good luck on your search. Hope you stay around and let us know how it's going.
Hi, welcome to the forum. It sounds like you have covered most things so I would take the next step and visit as many of them as you can so that you can see conditions for yourself. It sounds like you have found some good breeders but there's nothing as good as going to visit, you just have to make sure you keep a clear head and don't fall in love at the first visit

Hi and congrats on deciding to get a Raggie furbaby! Once you lay eyes on all the adorable kittens it will be hard to choose just one! Talk with the breeders you visit and ask about each kitten's personality, there may be one that fits your home and lifestyle more than the others. Eg do you want a very chatty kitty, or a quiet one? Do you want an independent kitty or one that will basically be attached to your leg? Have fun, its an exciting time

Good luck with your search. This will be a fun time for you. Welcome to the forum.
Thank you for your warm welcomes. I'm going to take your advice and try and visit all the breeders I've been in touch with so hopefully I'll get a good idea of what kind of characters they breed for.
A couple of extra questions. I work fulltime and with this in mind would you recommend getting 2 cats or are they happy to sleep through the day if they are alone. Even if I get only one my landlady has a cat who mine can be friends with while I'm at work
Also, I currently have 2 rats and usually there would be no way I'd mix cats and rodents but a. these rats are fearless (they play with my friends poodle!) and b. if introduced when a kitten as Raggies are so laid back would they be OK... or would the ratties become din-dins?

Just wondered if anybody had experience in mixing Raggies with smaller animals. If it doesn't work out then I can keep them separated easily enough.
Starting to get very excited now

Hi and welcome to the forum.Raggies tend like companionship so
it wouldn't be a bad idea to get two litter mates or you could give
a kitty from the shelter a home all so it don't have to be a raggie.
I had pet rats as pets when my kids where growing up
and I know they can make nice pets but I'm not sure with the kittens .I guess my biggest concern is the rats geting upset and biting the kitten. You say they play with the dog but is the dog chaseing the rats or just laying there in an on threating way.
