I am a relatively new owner of a Ragdoll (I've had my first one about a year) but have loved cats my whole life. My first cat was when I was in 3d grade and that was a long time ago. I lost my favorite boy when he was 14 and that was how I ended up with my first Ragdoll. I needed something to fill the void. I recently lost my 15 year old cat and just can't handle having only one kitty in the family.

My current Ragdoll (Pooky) has become an integral part of our family. My kids are grown and I have grandchildren but need someone in the house to love.

Pooky is a real hero to us. My husband recently had surgery and was staying in a guest room. I had a baby monitor on so I could hear him if he needed something but it was Pooky that alerted me that something was wrong. At that time she wasn't very vocal but cried so much I couldn't ignore her. I ended up having to call 911 because my husband couldn't breath but fortunately it turned out okay. He is also a cat person and though he liked to pet her, wasn't a close as he is since that experience. She sleeps on his side of the bed most of the time. I think she likes to keep watch over him. I tried to attach a copy of her picture but wasn't successful.
That is a wonderful story.....what a Hero Pooky is.....
Welcome to you and Pooky! What a great story you shared about Pooky alerting you to your husband. That's incredible! Smile
Welcome! So glad Pooky was so alert! I think Stormi mentioned one of her raggies knows when someone in the house doesn't feel well and sticks by their side. That is so amazing.

I am an "empty-nester" too. My grown children are beginning to think of Gus as their brother! I talk about him so much! He does fill that need "for someone to love". He likes to be rocked, just like a baby.

Hope your hubby is on the mend and Nurse Pooky is diligent in her watch.

Blessings,

Judy and Gus
[attachment=329][attachment=328]Thank you all for welcoming me to the forum. I tried to attach a picture of Pooky yesterday but was unsuccessful. I finally read the instructions and realized the file was too large. I went in and resized the picture so I was successful this time.
