Heavenly, what an amazing story! I especially liked the part of how you came home and noticed your cat was acting different, and then you praised her when you saw her new baby kittens & she felt so proud and happy. I nearly cried it was so touching.
To be honest i was really surprised how Tiffany was worried my reaction as I had her only a short time. She was so very very concerned at how I would be with her and her little ones. I don't think she had had one on one love before (being an ex breeder from a large cattery) and didn't want to lose the 'special bond' she and i had formed.

I lived in a granny flat (basically one large room) at the time, so I was able to witness her behaviour very closely during her nursing. I didn't want to upset Tiffany with her babies so I purposely 'left her to it' and didn't bother them. However I noticed she seemed... depressed. I was so concerned I rang a friend whom is a vet nurse. He asked if i had been giving her enough attention. I purposely hadn't been going too near her and the babies for fear I would upset her so he suggested I sit with her and give her more attention. As she had the babies in a basket in my wardrobe I ended up coming home each day, make myself a hot chocolate and would sit in the wardrobe with her talking to her and patting her for an hour or more.... To my astonishment her behaviour improved dramatically!!

Even now, each day i come home after work and find Tiffany and Darling at the door for me when i walk in, I always give Tiffany that little bit extra attention... just that little bit Wink

Sooooo sweet!

That would have been such a lovely suprise for you. To me, that breeder doesnt sound very responsible, and I'm glad that Tiffany now has you Smile How precious - you get to have a mum and daughter.

How do they get along? Does Tiffany still play mum?

Tiffany is a very loving mum.... It's a pleasure to watch her with Darling. Though I must admit Darling does push it sometimes. For the first time ever I saw Tiffany hiss at Darling.... But Darling just ignored her and kept poking her... LOL
Welcome to the forum.. your furries are gorgeous. Very sad that the breeder sold you a cat undesexed though, not to mention pregnant. Sounds like a BYB to me. Did you say she was 7 years old? She would of had so many litters. So glad to hear she is now spoilt and loved by you as a desexed pet! I hope all her kittens were sold on desexed too.

Cloe from Adelaide, owned by two beautiful desexed pets.
I just love the first pic of Tiffany with the new babies on her tum, just precious! It is a shame the breeder sold a pregnant cat... perhaps the it was an accidental litter the breeder did not want to deal with? Just not sure, but I am so glad she ended up in your hands. You have done all the right things, and I know how hard it would be to have to let all the babies go rather than keep them all!

I love Darlings nose. Welcome to the forum Smile

Your experience with Tiffany is such a touching & heartfelt one. I bet you are right about her not having that special one on one bond before in her lifetime, and she was concerned over losing that. It was especially kind of you to call the vet nurse to find out why Tiffany was appearing depressed, and all she needed was the attention from you while she was with her kittens. So precious!! It goes to show one how adopting an adult cat can be a rewarding experience, and the cat surely does adore you, as you do her. Thanks for telling your story, as I have so enjoyed reading it, as have so many others here. Keep in touch!
What an amazeing story. She ( both of you ) are very lucky to have found each other. This story almost made me cry!
What a sweet story. Tiffany looks a lot like our boy, Menou. I'm glad she has you now.
