Ok, so I'm trying to lose a few pounds in the two weeks I have left. I've given up soda and gum because they apparently cause bloating (definitely NOT something I want for the wedding!) and I'm a total mess because of it! I'm addicted to Coke, I have 4-5 a day and the last three days without have been so difficult. I've been drinking gallons of water per day. I don't just miss the taste, I'm getting major headaches without the caffeine. If I'm going through this much pain, I have to make sure this works. Does anyone have tips to help me drop a couple pounds pre-wedding? As much as I'd like the weight to stay off permanently, right now I'm more just concerned with having it off for the wedding.
Have you discussed this? I would want my bride not to spend two miserable weeks before our wedding and end up on the wedding day in that frame of mind. I would rather she just bring the five pounds and be happy to have avoided the misery. If you want to undergo some misery for some REAL benefit, then start it after the honeymoon.
LOL @ JanH
I just started eating "healthily" (is that a word?) last year to lower my cholesterol, and that was just to watch my fat grams, not calories, and I lost quite a bit in a couple of weeks (more in the months that followed). I stayed under 20 fat grams a day (still try to stay around that amount), and you wouldn't believe the good food that's out there fat free -- cheeses, ice cream, sherbet, angel food cake, non-fat cool whip....ok, so that's not healthy - just fat free...but there is a fat-free butter tasting spray by Parkay for baked potatoes or any other veggie. I eat tons of steamed vegetables of every kind and lean meats - nothing fried.
However, I've seen your picture and you're already slim, so I don't know what you're worried about! You're so slim already that I hate to say it, but I don't think you're going to see much weight loss of any kind unless you just starve yourself, and I agree with Jan...wait until after the wedding and honeymoon to torture yourself.
Haha, we have discussed it. JanH is absolutely right, Tommy hates that I'm trying to lose a few pounds (he thinks I'm perfect just the way I am

). Its definitely all me trying to lose some belly pounds (I haven't posted any pictures since I've gained some weight). I'm so used to being really slim, pretty skinny, while I was in the Navy and now that I'm not I'm just a bit self conscious. Our families are definitely used to seeing me skinny, and I'll be absolutely mortified if they think I'm pregnant (because literally all my weight is sitting there as if I am...don't worry, I took a test to be sure...no babies in there, just fat!). I just want to make sure my dress sits right and I don't have a bulge sticking out where it isn't supposed to.
I'm sure you'll be beautiful and no one will even be looking at your tummy - but instead just your glowing face and the big smile I'm sure you'll be wearing! I can't wait to see your pics and the dress you have!
that's what spanx (or other shapewear) are for! also, were you drinking regular or diet Coke? If it was regular, then not drinking all of those sodas will save probably around 1000 calories per day! (I hate diet soda, so I have no experience with its effects) But otherwise just eat healthfully and try to choose foods that provide as much nutrition as possible per calorie but don't drive yourself nuts over it. You have enough to deal with these next few weeks, without being cranky and hungry!!! And seriously, shapewear can work wonders!
Jenny, your going to make a beautiful bride,
I wouldn't worry about the small thing.
What you need is a day at the spa

I hate diet sodas, too. However, after cutting out my Pepsi for a week, I decided to try Diet Dr. Pepper because people swear it tastes less horrible that any other. I'd probably have hated it as much as any of them if I hadn't been doing without. However, it tasted pretty not horrible. There's a lot more carbonation, so you're full of it pretty quick.
Speaking of full, excuse this indelicacy, please: I have friends who absolutely swear by high colonics for emergency deflation. Ewwwww.
There's always the last resort, too: exercise. Ewwwwwww.
janilee
Colonics are SO bad for your GI system. I won't go into the "why", but at one point I asked my father (who is a gastroenterologist) about it and he told me it's a really bad idea and why.
I know janilee! Exercise definitely equals ewwwww for me...I know there are people who enjoy it. I wish I was one of them but I'm so not! I used to have a great metabolism and could get away with eating junk food and not exercising but I hit 30 last year and that has all gone waaaayyyyyy downhill! Sarah, I'm definitely going to go shopping for spanx (love those!), but the corset the woman at the bridal shop put me in when I tried on the dress was like body armor and I hated it! I'm hoping I can pull it off without it (imagining wearing that for a few hours, no fun). I just weighed myself and cutting out soda the last three days I've lost 3 pounds!! Its probably just a weight variation, but I'm latching onto that 3 pounds with a big smile! And thanks T and Linda, I hope so
