Breeding "without papers" means the "breeder" is not breeding pedigreed cats at all, which requires tracing ancestry and selecting breeding cats and pairs to breed based on factors including their ancestry, which is kept track of by the paperwork registered with the association. That process is what gives the predictability in breed characteristics for the kittens produced and is the difference between getting a breed and a random bred moggie. There are millions of wonderful moggies (and many of them have some and some have many Ragdoll characteristics), but a Ragdoll comes with papers and is bred by a reputable breeder to justify the price difference from moggies.
May I ask what a moggie is? I guess theres no price limit to an addition to your family. I will not be breeding him. I think one Louie is enough in the world lol. Would he be considered domestic if one parent was ragdoll and the other parent was domestic or how does that work? Theres so much to learn I have so many questions lol. I will save those for another day and time lol.
Thank you to all of you who commented I will try to get more pictures Ive been taking them with a cam because I dont have a camera and well it takes the picture but it isnt exactly high quality lol I would one day like to take a picture that captures his unique eyes.
Sincerely
Candice & Louie
Welcome to the group!
I am also from NC and have a small family cattery.
Hi Candace and welcome to you and Louis to the forum. He certainly looks like a raggie and you love him, so that's all that matters here! He's beautiful from what I can see in your signature and I do hope we get to see more pics of him. We all LOVE pics. Looks like you've had him a week, so you'll have to share all about how he's doing with you and how he's adjusting. Great to have you both here.
I have had him only a week my brother brought him home to me him and the previous owner are really great friends. Louie has his times 1 angel 2 demon lol. He lets me know pretty well what he wants and dont want. I almost sat on him and he swatted at my rear which was clearly a sign he didnt want to be sat on lol. He follows me around like a little puppy If I go to the bathroom hes gotta be right in there with me. When I first got him he would not come when I called his name but everytime I speak to him I say Louie Ive done that every day since I got him and now he comes on command pretty good he still doesnt achnoledge me when he can see me and I call his name how do I go about teaching him to come when hes that close. I wanted to know if there was another method of scolding him other than loud noises such as clap of the hands or shaking pennies in a jar Ive tried the hand infront of his face lightly pushing back with a firm No but he just sneaks around and tries to find another way of doing the same thing I told him not to do. I have resulted in stomping my foot and saying no that works but Im afraid that its a definant wrong way of handling the situation so if anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to hear them. Louie has a thing for the fish bowl I had moved it into the bathroom to clean out he sits in his usual place right above and looks down like hes saying well jeez mum whered you put the water bowl how do get him out of that habit he never goes for the fish he just likes drinking out of it. I have tried covering the top and telling him no every time he goes to drink out of it but the cover doesnt work because he just tries to chew it off anyways, any suggestions on that matter as well I would be happy to hear of. My fear is that he likes high places my banister is on the third floorad is open so you may look over it and down into the living room Im afraid because he loves to sit on it and look down into the living room while his lil arm hangs over the side Im afraid that he is going to turn the wrong way and fall right off. His schedule is a little off lol at 230am he's wanting to play and he wakes me up again at 7-30am. He quite well plays fetch which Ive never seen any cat do lol. Theres still a few more things I would like to teach him. He is sitting in the window right now watching it snow and snow and snow lol. He does well not to try and go out of the house my brother said that if he does he would probably just sit on the porch but Im not going to take any chances its quite high up. Hes not fixed yet but he definantly will be very very soon.
Thanks again to all of you.
Sincerely,
Candice & Louie
Yes, you'll want to have him fixed immediately. If not, he may begin to spray around your house, and you definitely don't want that. please book him in as soon as possible. It is moeny well spent!!
Moggie means a random bred cat. It originated in the UK and Australia and is like mutt for dogs, but without any negative connotation to it. A Ragdoll bred to a non Ragdoll produces a moggie or domestic.

You do need to be careful with any negative training technique. Some things in which a cat may be so interested one just has to put out of the way - and the fish bowl is likely one. You can shoo him and divert him, but it is not likely to stop his interest when you are not there.

The banister is a real danger. Cats are sure footed, but they can and do fall. Make sure not to try to intervene at the time, because that is even more dangerous. The best solution is to keep him away, block it or make it less attractive. Sometimes cats are more attracted if there is a piece of furniture by it that is a staging area. Remove anything of that sort. Be careful of the banister itself. Playing kittens can just back through. That can be blocked with plexiglass sheets. At least figure out what is below and make sure it is not doubly dangerous based on that.

Cats are nocturnal and it is not unusual for them to want to wake you up early. You can try to avoid it by feeding just before bed and having a good interactive play exercise session. However, often that is not enough. You must not reinforce it. If you can pretend to be asleep and totally ignore him, that is the place to start. If that does not work, then with as little interaction as possible, pick him up and put him out of the room. Any scolding or acknowledgement of him at all is what he wants. You have to avoid that so that he knows getting you up does not pay off. (Do not feed him immediately on getting up. That will just have him wake you up to be fed.)

Often the best fix for a cat who wants to wake you up to play is another cat. However, it can result in two cats waking you up to play.

I will definantly soon as I can bring him in to get neutered.

I try never to interefere while hes on the banister because Im always afraid that he will get scared and lose his ballancing and fall I try not to allow him to go up there but hes rather sneaky and he goes when Im not looking hes rather smart in that area lol. Thank you for letting me know about all this its much appreciated.

Candice & Louie
