I am hoping in my new home I'll be able to have a home library, and I'm interested to see what other people consider home library "must haves." List the top five books you consider a must for every home library
My top five:
Bible (King James Version)
Collected Works of Jane Austin
Collected Works of William Shakespeare
Mein Kampf ~ Adolf Hitler
Gone with the Wind ~ Margaret Mitchell
In no particular order:
Collected Works of William Shakespeare
Lord of the Rings trilogy
The Wealth of Nations, by Adam Smith
On the Origin of Species, by Charles Darwin
Night, by Elie Wiesel
Honorable Mention: Nineteen Eight-four, by George Orwell or Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley (tie)
I almost included LOTR trilogy on my list, and Night is a must read for everyone...such an amazing book (but oh so sad)!
I know... I think that it's one of those books that everyone should read at some point in their lives. I first read that as a kid right after (silently) noticing the tattoo on a friend's grandmother's arm. Devastating.
Being the Potter freak that I am.. my library would not be complete without the 7 books.
In no particular order these are the three that I couldn't live without.
Harry Potter series, JK Rowling
To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee -amazing woman: this was the only novel she ever wrote
Outlander series, Diana Gabaldon
Not much of a reader myself... but my very small collection includes;
Animal stories like;
Marley and Me
Where the Red Fern Grows
Fun things like my;
Hypochondriac's Handbook
Zombie Survival Guide
Brain Droppings by George Carlin (so funny)
Encyclopedias
A huge dictionary
Various full page photography or art books
World Maps
I have not read "Night". Will have to pick it up. I just purchased Inkheart and Inkspell, I hope they are good.. they look it.
I am guilty of never having read any of the LOTR series, bad Kitty! We will absolutely read them all.
