I guess it's not such a bad thing that I open my big mouth even on threads I know nothing about-which is most of the threads. Smile

What camera are you holding on now? Point-n-shoot(PNS) or DSLR? There are quite many ppl here who are into photography, and they might be able to give you good advice as to what camera to get... Smile My current camera is PNS, Panasonic DMC-LX3, 2 yr old model, but with very good specifications...

Long and painful story made short: I had a great Panasonic. Nelson took it on a ride of about 200 mi on one of his motorcycles and wrapped it in his jacket. Who knows where he was when it fell off. He replaced it with a DSLR that weighs about 4 lbs and is not good for those quick kitty moments, not to mention that I don't want to know THAT much about any camera. Last Christmas, he took over the DSLR and gave me a Fujipix Finecrap. Okay, I made part of that up. Smile But I can't get a decent photo to save my life.
I printed off the whole thread where people gave you advice and I'm in the process of sifting through it to look at all the recommendations.

Hehehe.. If you just want a simple and easy to use camera, then PNS is just the correct type for you.. A very impt spec to take note is the shutter speed.. The faster is the shutter speed, the sharper is the pic of a moving object.. A DSLR will have very fast shutter speed, ie. 1/4000sec and more, but the best PNS in the mkt now is only 1/2000sec (good enough for not-so-fast moving shots).. Another impt spec to take note is the aperture size.. The bigger the aperture size, the more light can enter the lens, so this means tat you can take very clear pics with low light condition (without flash), which means no more ghostly RED eyes of our cats... Smile All DSLRs have lens with aperture size less than F2.0. The best PNS in the mkt now have aperture size of F2.0 (currently only Canon S90 and Panasonic LX3 have this F2.0 spec)... F2.0 can take very good pics at low light... Smile Hope that helps...
