I think Monkey has a bad UTI, and may have had it for some time (poor guy, I've had them and they are just awful). I mentioned in another post that Monkey had started meowing at night in intervals. Now I think it was due to the pain. When I took him to the vet last month I mentioned that I thought something was wrong, but she said she just thought it was loneliness while we were sleeping. Today it has come to a head, we've found pee almost everywhere through the house and Monkey crying next to his litter box. All the vets are closed right now, but I saw on a website that apple cider vinegar should help. Has anyone else tried this? I feel SOOOO bad for him, he's so pitiful right now...and to think this might have been a problem all along makes me feel like the worst mom of all time! Does anyone know something I can do until the vet opens tomorrow?? Right now I feel even worse, because we have him locked in the bathroom to try contain his peeing to one area

Sorry to hear about poor Monkey. My girl had once had this....she was constantly trying to go for a wee, but nothing. I have not tryed the apple cider vinegar...I was able to go to the vet right away...is there an emergency vet? an after hours one?.....I am sure other lovely ppl here will have some pre-vet advice for you...my only input is to spend time with Monkey and re-assure him best you can....I hope he gets well soon

I'm a little nervous about home remedys from a website, but that's just me. Poor guy, I hope he can get into the vet right away this morning. I know it must be heartbreaking to know he's hurting and have to confine him too (but I understand why). Let us know when you get back from the vet.
Do not use vinegar or anything else of that sort. The deadly risk is crystal blockage and pH change may be counterproductive depending on the crystal. A male can block and die. Therefore, it is VERY important to get them to a vet quickly. If he is not producing any urine when he tries to urinate, then there is a high risk of blockage and an emergency vet visit is in order. It can be difficult to tell, because a UTI will make them urinate often so that each try may not produce much urine. However, blockage is so dangerous that you are better off not missing that rather than assuming he does not have much urine. (A vet, and some owners, can palpate the bladder to see if it is full and cannot be emptied and a blockage is present.)
Monkey has a vet appointment today at 9:30am, and I'm really anxious. I gave him the vinegar last night before I got any responses because I felt like I had to do something, and now I'm even more worried! He's peed quite a bit all over the house (I stepped in a puddle last night before bed) so I hope his bladder isn't full and he can make it to the vets.
Let us know how he does! When you're at the vet, it would be a good idea to get information about the closest emergency vet clinic for nights/weekends/holidays.
Any negative effects (or benefits) of the vinegar are not even close to instantaneous, so that will not be a risk with such a quick vet visit.
I'm so sorry to hear about Monkey. My prayers are with you both. I will be waiting for an update.
Ugh Jenny... we very nearly lost Bonkers due to a blockage. The emergency vet catheterized him, put him on antibiotics and fluids. He was at the vet for 3 nights.. I had to open a pet care credit plan to save him. The males can also re-block after they get home if their initial treatment is not thorough.
All my best to you and Monkey! He'll be much happier soon

Jenny- I was wondering how Monkey is feeling, and if you've gone to the vet yet. I hope all will be better very soon. Poor Monkey.
