Hello! Smile I would like to have some opinions of you about a breeder. I won't get a ragdoll before summer (June/July) and there is many things to study before bring a cat to my home, but if I have the necessary conditions to bring a cat, I would like to contact a breeder soon, so I already started my research. Smile

I received a reply from a breeder right now and she said that males are delivered with 16 weeks and females with 18 weeks, because they come already spay! Isn't too early to spay? Is there any problem because of that?

They come already with the first two vaccines and microship, so to me it seems that 750€ (750 euros = 659.8734 pounds = 1020.6859 dollars) are normal, but what is your opinion, please?

The breeder is very nice, she said I can go meet her cats, but now she doesn't have any kittens, so I only will see the adults! I think this is amasing, because I never was with a ragdoll before!!!

She said that they are a FELV, FIV, FIP, PKD and parasite free cattery! Big Grin

What should I ask more?

Thanks!

PS - I'm sorry for any mistakes in the text, my english is not the best!...
this sounds like a good breeder to me.
that is not a too young of age to speuter my little girl wwas done that young. breeders prefer to do so young to be sure they are not handing their kittens over to back yard breeders and it protects the breed from matings. this is a very important point in ragdoll breeding. a lot of people in my country get a whole kitten and breed it not to the uality standard, dont really care and just to pump them out and get as much money as they can.

i think your breeder sounds great so far.
You do not mention HCM DNA testing. Both parents should be DNA tested to be free from both HCM mutations (the "Ragdoll" one and the "Maine Coon" one). HCM (Hypertrophic Cardomyopathy) is the most common cause of heart disease in cats and is deadly. HCM caused by these two of the possible mutations can be avoided by testing breeding cats before they produce affected kittens and all breeding Ragdolls should be DNA tested before they are bred.)
The breeder sounds good and the price sounds about right, especially if you find they DNA test for HCM.
Thank you all! I will ask about DNA test for HCM mutations (the "Ragdoll" one and the "Maine Coon" one). Smile
Just one more question, how can a ragdoll have the mutation "Maine Coon"? I hope that is not a too silly question... Thanks again!
