Morning all,
Firstly thanks to all of you for your help so far, we really appreciate that.
When we first had Dimitri & Sergei we had real plants dotted about (what was thern out flat). However...they chewed, ripped, you name it they did it to these plants.
We ended up getting some pretty good quality fake plants that are fixed into real stems/bark etc.
Someone told me recently that cats needs real plants to help them digest their food. Is this true? if so can anyone give me some suggestions on what to do. i.e. what plants?
Cheers
Sam

Hmmm, I offer native NZ grass to my boys...narrow thick grass....that they LOVE to munch on..that is all I know of here that I use...there is a more specific name but of course I do not recall it atm hehe...it helps them rid their furballs

Is this just like standard grass you would grow on a lawn? Im not sure if my UK grass would be up to your NZ standard...ive been to NZ know what ive got to compete with!!
I shall maybe get a little grass pot for them to see how they like it.
Thanks
Cat's don't necessarily have to have real growth to chew on, and good for you in getting rid of your plants and replacing them with artificial ones. A breeder friend of mine recently lost a kitten that had gone to a new home because they had a lily in their house and the kitten LICKED it. Didn't even have to chew or bite it, just licked it and the necropsy showed the death was due to lily poisoning. We all have to be careful of what we allow in our houses with our cats.
At pet stores here in the US they sell little containers to grow your own cat grass. I've never tried it, but others have and their cats like it, other have and their cats won't touch it. It's all in what you want to do.
I think you can just buy wheat or barley buds from a health food store and grow it pretty easily! I've had some cat safe house plants in the past. I put some really pretty rocks on the top of the soil, they were heavy enough so the pets could not dig them out.

Awesome you have been to NZ? that's great! I really want to visit the UK and Scotland....this is not the kind of grass on the lawn...much thicker and wider...but yeah....that is really neat that you have been here ...where in NZ did you visit ?
