-Has anyone tried the CatMouse Litterbox Odor Eliminator? It is an ionic machine that plugs in & supposedly attracts all odor-causing particles, etc. PetSmart said that they are flying off the shelves. Well, reviews are pretty good as far as odor control of the litter box, but some reviews say they are not safe. According to the EPAA website, they COULD be unsafe, & now I am not sure I want to use it! Anyone out there have any knowledge of these ionic air purifiers?
Wow, I had seen these and actually considered getting one for our downstairs (enclosed garage) that smells musty from time to time. I had never seen the info about it possibly being dangerous, so I did a little research after your post and I don't think I'll be getting one now. Just in case anyone else wants to read about ozone generators, which it seems this one is, then here's the link to help you make your own decision:

It does say that ionizers are ok (read down the page - #3 under "What other methods can be used" are ok. But is seems that ionizers have hepa filters that have to be changed frequently to be effective. I didn't read anything on the cat mouse air purifier that mentions a hepa filter on it which leads me to believe it truly is an ozone generator.
I bought one two weeks ago. I like it, have nothing to complain about it. It doesn't eliminate the initial smell when kitty has JUST gone poo...but it definitely clears it up pretty quick. I must say lately I have been getting lazy about cleaning out the box simply because the smell of it is no longer reminding me to!

I am thinking about purchasing another one now to try out on my second litter box, and possibly another one as a gift for my mother and her kitties!
I think I may try it, since the cat litter boxes are upstairs, & we spend all of our time downstairs. The cats spend the day upstairs with their cat trees & have the whole upstairs to themselves. They frequently hang out (literally!) on the landing & watch us & the dogs down below. The house is a cape cod, open with a high ceiling. At 9PM every night, the dogs bug my husband until he puts them all to bed, & the 3 Raggies sit on the stairs just behind the baby gate, impatiently waiting. Then, once the dogs are out of their way, the 3 raggies come downstairs & spend the evening with me (I am a night-owl!). After I go to bed, the kitties sleep in the living room & return upstairs in the morning when I fill their water fountain. It is really hilarious, because the cats & dogs worked this out on their own! Not a word needs to be spoken - the dogs hop up & down & bark to go to bed, & if they are not quick enough, the raggies yowl at them from the stairs to hurry up!
I have been using "air purifiers" for many years, those type with carbon filter and hepa filter... It generates lots of +ve and -ve ions which clears up the air and kills the bacteria too... Before I bought the air purifier, I always sneeze inside aircon room.. But now, I dun sneeze anymore, coz the air purifier cleans up the air, and my room is free from dust and odour... Last weekend, I bought a new air purifier, and I placed the old one inside my kitty room... Smile It helped to reduce the odour in the litter trays... Smile
