For a few days now, Gabriel has appeared to have developed a cough. Then, there are times when it appears that he has trouble catching his breath. The vet had recommended liquid Benadryl for the Gs' sneezing, so I continued to give this to Gabriel. I give both Gs hairball control treats. so I do not know if it is a hairball or not. Anyway, I have e-mailed the vet about an appointment for Gabriel. It will probably be Tuesday before I get one. Gabby seems to be o.k. She is not coughing. I must admit that I am somewhat nervous about seperating them in order to take Gabriel to the vet. Just asking for your good thoughts and prayers for my little man!
Take both of them to the vet together even though only Gabriel is going to be seen. I have a friend who does that to keep her raggies calm. Same at cat shows -- sometimes they'll bring an additional cat that isn't going to be seen just to be company for the show cat. I hope the cough is nothing, but it is a concern. Ever since Matthew's Albus who was having the problem and ended up having eaten things, I do find that coughs can be concerning! Just be sure that he's eliminating properly and also that he seems ok within himself. Hope all goes well at the appointment and let us know.
Unless the cat with the appointment was extremely stressed by vet visits and the companion helped greatly, I would not take an "extra" cat to the vet. Vet offices are like hospitals, a place where cats can pick something up. The balance is much in favor of going for wellness exams, shots and when one has a health concern. But not a place for a cat to just visit.
I hope that all goes well!
Hope the darling gets better Regina, let us know how you get on

I hope he gets better soon, Coco went through a stage when I noticed her doing this, it was only a hand full of time though and nothing since.
Take video of it if you can, then show your vet. My vet was very pleased I was able to get a video when Solo had his cough, because he was able to tell that it was not from a hairball. We also found inflammation in his chest from x-rays... so definitely get to a vet for your little man. Since it has had been cooling down here up Solo has stopped coughing. Now we are waiting to see as it starts to warm up if he starts up again, as it might be seasonal allergies that trigger asthma.
Here's solo's coughing video.

Alisha, that is a good idea! I have a video camera on my cell phone. My project for tonight! I watched your video and it is kinda like Gabriel's cough. It can be in rapid succession like Solo's cough. However, talking about the seasonal allergies that trigger asthma-I have been giving both Gs Benadryl, as directed by the vet, for allergies.
Gabriel's appointment is tomorrow mid-morning.
I would never have thought of a video.

Thanks Alisha, I'll file that idea away for future referrence.
