Besides my immediate family, I don't think anyone in my life gets my fascination with Ragdolls or my cats. In my head Im kind of shaking them and saying, "Don't you see how lovable they are?????? Don't you see how much I love them? " lol.....it's rather comedic but extremely frustrating~~ Im so glad I have this place where I KNOW everyone gets it!!!!!
I try not to talk about it much because I get funny looks. I like it one here lol.
My close friends and family know I love them, but that is as far as they see it. They don't understand my fasination with them...and in their ignorance, I don't think they know just how different the raggie is from other breeds, at least I don't think they do hehe. Frankly I don't bother wasting to much time teaching them lol...but when they see them, and hold them....and watch how they are so relaxed and their puppy ways...they start to realize a bit of what I experience everyday... and they are amazed...so they are learning slowely I think lol
other than my mother i dont think anyone understands why i love my cats soo much. i havent had good experiences with people. having being bullied and never really finding a "best friend". my partner of 5 years is my best friend. he knows im obsesssed and loves our cats so much and he constantly says once we get our own house i can have as many cats if that will make me happy. i dont think many ppl understnad the amazingness of the raggie. they see raggies and think they are like a persian and judge that u have alot of grooming or u get the rude ppl the call them crab bait. i find this term sooo offensive. so in conclsion no not many ppl understand why i love my cats much, but there arent many "good" ppl left in this world. they are all about judging u, calling u crazy. my experience with most ppl has not been a good one obviously. i love this forum because i have found kindred spirits. LOL
No, I try not to let other people see how obsessed I am, LOL!! My husband knows, and I talk about my cats some at work, but I think my office speaks for itself (cat pics all over) so I don't say much or they will think I'm nuts.
There are two types of people in this world:
1) the ones who haven't been to my house yet. These are the people I show Monkey off to so they can ohh and ahh over him.
2) the ones who have been to my house. These are the people I hide Monkey from, because it usually just takes them meeting him once for them to want to steal him.
On a side note, Tommy loves Monkey but he just doesn't get the forum obsession! He'll come into a room (like he just did) and say "Baby! Get off that forum!" before he even sees what's on the screen!
Jenny - you're going to have to do like me and get a laptop for home so you can be in whatever room he is so he won't complain so much. My husband used to get preturbed too until I found out he doesn't object to me being on the computer so much as he didn't like me being away from him, isolating myself in my office at home. Now I have two laptops and lots of times we're both in our recliners in front of TV with our laptops!!

My immediate family are the ones who don't get it! My cousin, my neice and two co-workers are the ones who understand what I am talking about when I talk about the love I have for my Gs.
My friends dont understand either. I talk about my cats sometimes, but i try not to because i dont want them to think im crazy. My family also used to think im crazy, but now since i have moved back with them while my house is getting built, they have got to know my cats and are all turning just as crazy as i am!!
They all know i love my cats though: I have pictures of them all over my facebook, they see all the toys i have for them when they come over my house, i wont stay over a friends house after a few drinks for convienance as i dont want my cats to have to sleep alone, ive also got a tattoo on my foot of a cat playing with a piece of string.
One of my friends also had a cat she was very close to (she lost him last week though
) so she understood where i was coming from sometimes. But didnt go to the same extremes that i do.
However, i would never tell anyone that i am a member of a cat forum!! Only my boyfriend and my family knows that.
