I remember when I got her I asked the breeder about the shedding issues of a Ragdoll. She told me that they go thru fur stages and their hair changes over the first few years. I brush her very thoroughly every day and in the last month she is shedding more (not a huge amount but more like a regular long hair cat) and the fur on her belly is getting really wavy. Is this normal? At 9 months is she getting all new fur like the breeder suggested she would?

I appreciate any insight into this! Thank you!!
Here is a picture of jacks belly, he is hanging out like a ragdoll, the famous pose in which they are famous for and names after. BUT EVEN THOUGH HIS EYES SHINE YELLOW, THEY ARE BABY BLUE

Hi jack is 9 month old in 3 weeks, his hair on his tummy is very fluffy, curly, and full, his other fur is curly, fluffy around his neck, and is top coat is getting silk and longer., he sheds but not alot., there is no undercoat which really helps., He appears to be a blue seal point, but now his face is getting some tan around his seal markings, and his top coat is looking like light chocolate., who knows what he will turn out to be in 3 years., maybe since they are the same age we can share help..ps what do you feed your baby, I give jack 2 wet meals am and pm, of organic food, and I leave down a 1/3 cup of eukanuba ( no byproducts or wheat gluten for nibbling during the day and night, I think he now weighs close to 91/2 lbs, what does your baby weigh. i worry he will get to fatCool

Your Jack is adorable! Thank you for the pictures!

Feeding my Eloise... that's a tricky one! When I first got her, for wet food I was feeding her "Honest Kitchen" with organic cooked chicken and organic chicken broth mixed in. She loved it then but began to not eat it one day. I tried the "Halo" wet food as well as the wet food from where I buy her kibble and that is "Life's Abundance" at HeathyPetNet.com She goes crazy for their kibble AND their food supplements and treats! However, she still will only eat a bite or two of their wet food! I can't even get her to eat chicken any more!! All she wants is her kibble and the food supplements and treats! Weird, huh? Oh and she LOVES for me to feed her by hand! Such a Diva! I can get her to eat a few more bites of wet food if I hand feed it to her!

She weighs about 9-10 pounds like your guy. I don't think Jack is fat, I think he is just going to be a big boy!!

Any advice on how to feed her wet food? Anyone know a trick?
Kintu has wavy chest hair that can get small mats. His breeder told me she didn't know when it got that way; not in the first 1 1/2 years of his life, she said. That's probably true because he came from Tinsel, a cattery in Canada, and he made TICA champion before he was sold. The woman I got him from said it was that way when she got him-though her word is pretty shaky with me. That left about five years in Arizona for the wave to develop. I wonder if he's just getting wiry chest hairs with maturity, like human men? Smile He was almost eight when I got him and had him neutered.
As for shedding, I think it depends less on the outside season than the inside one. It's warm in my house in Winter and I keep it pretty cool in Summer, so we have less shedding when it's warm outside.

No, I got Eloise from Ragdoll Angels. Monica is the breeder and she is very nice.
I am sure our breeders cooperate with each other. If you go to this page you will see "Crystal" which is now with Celtic.

And also look for "Smokey Bear" hanging out on top of the ladder. (He does not have wavy hair on his belly, BTW) He is actually the cat that inspired us to get a Ragdoll. He stayed at our apartment for a week when his owners were out of town, we just loved him! I still look in on him when his folks travel.

Our cats probably have some very close genetic connections, maybe even sharing the father, Gallaway in my case, he's a stunning cat.

That wavy hair on the chest and belly were not a problem for the first couple of years but I am now finding it prone to matting, so you may want to keep on top of that as your cat gets older.

Yeah! Crystal was the Mother of the Ragdoll baby that died. She was gorgeous! My Eloise was a cousin to her so yeah, they are related I'm sure Big Grin

Thank you for the advice about the wavy fur. I have indeed noticed it likes to tangle up a bit. Poor girl!! I do my best to brush her twice a day but for sure once a day!

ain't he gorgeous, and to think I almost placed him with someone else, his white coat however is starting to change to a light brown, do not know what he will end up like, most likely gorgeous.
