When I was at my sweetie's place over the weekend I was playing with his cat with a piece of yarn which he goes nuts over. My bf's son wanted to play so I let him have the yarn. It took me a minute to realize that he had left the yarn on the floor and by the time I got over to the cat, the yarn was gone! We looked everywhere for it, but Neutrino had obviously eaten it.. sigh. We gave him some furball medicine and watched him closely. My bf emailed me this morning and gave me the big news that it finally passed. Aye aye aye... I was sweating big time, I just love that cat!! I had envisioned it twisting around his intestines, surgery.. ugh. Luckily it came out well (so to speak)!
Two of my favorite guys!

That does sound scary, but I"m glad he passed it (cute guy and cat!!). I've heard once they start something going in, they can't get it back out so they continue to swallow. Makes us think of how we must be aware what's laying around at any time.
I agree, cute cat & guy. Sure glas everything turned out ok.
Phew!! What a relief! I couldn't imagine what will happen if the yarn didn't come out...

Thanks, I think they're kinda cute :~), they're sweet too which is even better!!
Teresa, I did not know that about them not being able to stop swallowing. I should have been watching closer, as my bf's son has a very short attention span (which 10 yr old does not). I just won't play with Neutrino with yarn anymore. I always do the inspection tour around the apt. because my kids are so into knitting and crocheting.
No kidding about "Phew"! It could have ended badly, I've seen it too many times on the emergency vet shows.
I'm glad it turned out ok. What a stressful few days. My family's first ragdoll used to help herself to the tinsel on our Christmas tree and we would find colour little deposits in the litter tray as it passed. We ended up havin gto put the tinsel up much higher and the result was a funny looking tree, but a tinsel free cat!
OMG Kathryn, sparkly tinsel droppings! It must have been stressful, we used to put tons of tinsel on our tree when we were kids. The tree probably looked a bit different, but worth it

.
Thank goodness, Albus had to have surgery in the beginning of December because of some hairties he ate that did indeed get stuck in his intestines so I'm very happy that this didn't happen to Neutrino. We're quite obsessive compulsive about the house now!
Oh wow, I am so sorry to hear that happened to dear Albus! Ugh, he must have been horribly sick.. no fun for him or his human family! I am glad that at least he was okay in the long run, that must have been incredibly scary.

It was scary and it still is in a way- you have to check the floor and benches and anywhere he can jump to (which is practically everywhere) all of the time and everything small and edible needs to be locked in a cuboard which is hard with kids because they're not usually reliable with that sort of stuff so along I come checking the house all the time and going a bit crazy. Worth it though, he's my boy!
How's Mocha???
