I'm so sorry for your friend. Like the others have said, all you can really do is be there for her. Living alone she may be happy to have someone to talk to about her cat as onle us cat-lovers can really understand the pain at the loss of one of our beloved babies.
Jan's picture and poem is fantastic, it would be wonderful to receive something like that as a constant tribute. Years ago when my aunt's dog died I got a photo and made a cross stitch picture of her and now Holly is always with them, on the wall of their lounge.
