I know...I know...another thread about weight. However, today at the vet is the first time that Gabriel and Gabby were really weighed with accuracy. Gabby came in at 8 pounds and Gabriel at 7.5 pounds. They will be six months old on January 30. Does this sound about right?

Also, the vet said that Gabriel's pre-op blood work showed that he is a little dehydrated. Last night, he did appear to drink alot of water. I told this to the vet. The vet did not seem to be particularly concerned at this point. I have a Platinum Drinkwell which both the Gs LOVE. I always keep the reservoir adequately filled. Should I be worried about this?
I can tell you my experience with Simone and that's all I have to base it on. When she was sick and I took her in, based on her bloodwork the vet said she was dehydrated, but he didn't trust the results, so he was going to do it manually (a count of the blood cells by microscope?) -- so she was still dehydrated, but I thought it was interesting that he didn't trust the "automated" blood test. So maybe he just did the automated and it had some problems, so therefore he wasn't concerned knowing that it might not have been accurate?
If he did not hydrate her or tell you to do anything about it, you do not need to worry about it. A cat can get somewhat dehydrated just going to the vet.
The age old weight debate lol. I am not sure , all I know is, as I have been told, especially with kittens, their growth rate can vary ALOT between each kitten, growth spurts and what not, Also been told, as long as the vet says they are not underweight and as long as the kitten eats and plays and drinks...then it is all down to genes. Like humans, some big some small, but healthy is main thingSmile
