When I take the Gs to the vet, I am going to be emphatic about getting at least one of them speutered as soon as possible. The vet wanted to wait til six months, but I do not believe that I can take that chance. I will contact the humane society regarding a discount voucher on getting the Gs speutered. (I should not have spent so much on Christmas!:rolleyes
Thanks to everyone for your responses!
If you can only afford to get one done I would say get Gabriel seen to first. Boys are generally more likely to become sexually aware early, the surgery is less invasive and he is probably bigger already so better able to withstand the surgery. If only for peace of mind I would get him done as soon as possible. The change in personalities may not be to do with them coming into season, it may just be them growing up but better you react prematurely than they have a sibling mating.
I've had all my males neutured at 5 months, this is when a lot of them start to spray. Better to prevent the event happening than trying to stop it later.
I've had Belle come in call the sat before xmas and Izzy on boxing day. I'll try and video them next time so people can see how a cat in call behaves. One thing you could do to see if the female is in call is grab her scruff gently (the male would bite the back of her neck) if she sticks her bum in the air with her head lower down and 'paddles' her back legs, she will be in call. If finances allow I would get the male neutured first then the female as soon as finances allow.
