To be honest I found a kitten at the local ASPC and they stated that it was a russian blue ragdoll. She doesn't have blue eyes yet everything else is on with being a ragdoll kitten. She is approximately 8 weeks old. How can I tell if she is actually a pure bred like the ASPC stated when they didn't have authorization papers?? Is there a test or something?
Laura
Even a "Russian Blue Ragdoll" would not be a pedigreed kitten, since those are two distinct breeds. It is not likely that either breed is anywhere behind the kitten. Shelters make these kinds of labels for dogs and cats to indicate the look they see in the animal - and to help place moggies. No matter the background, I am sure you have a wonderful kitten and I am glad you found each other. Stay around and post pictures and tell us about your pets. We love all cats and like to hear about them, Ragdoll or not. And, who knows, you may decide your kitten needs a Ragdoll playmate.
Hi Laura
Welcome to the Ragdoll forum. We'd all love to see pictures of your new baby!

Hi Laura, welcome to the forum. As Jan says, if the ASPC identification is right your kitten is a Russian Blue/Ragdoll cross. Either way we would love to see pictures of your new baby and we hope you stay around and share your experience of life with a new kitten. What's she called?
Hi AND WELCOME.
Russian blue is a breed of cat/ the ragdoll is another breed of cat.
The russian blue is not known to be a social animal where other pets are concerned to the point they will attack other pets. The Raggie is a laid back social animal. Mixing these 2 breeds? I really don't know what the outcome personality would be. You may well end up with a social cat or a totally non social cat.
If you are looking for a specific personality then you will need to go for a pure bred.
Welcome! Congratulations on your new kitten! Post some photos when you get a chance

What is her personality like? I (and everyone else on here) love hearing about cats, whether they're ragdolls or not!
