Well thank you everyone for your supportive and informative comments.
In my defense, this spider was huge. There was a tape measure by the glass tank where the spider was kept and I read 9 inches.
I hate anything with more than 4 legs.
I think since it was that huge I might be afraid too. We each have something that we are frightened of even if some say they are not or I would say they are. Glad you are all right tho.
My parents have a farm now in Arkansas, and there are quite a few tarantulas around there. Before that I never knew they were native to the US! Another thing they have in abundance are ticks...which is probably the bug I fear and hate most. The sneak attack, stuck on you, sucking your blood thing is terrifying to me!
We only tend to have smaller insects over here in the UK so we are quit fortunate. Spiders are ok as long as they are small but rodents are horrible!! Oh, and frogs and toads, I don't like them at all. When my daughters were young we lived in a house with a cellar, I went down the cellar for something and screamed becasue I saw a toad, when I turned around my daughters were all crowded at the top of the cellar steps, they thought I had fallen down the steps!!
I don't mind frogs, toads, mice, rats, or anything else.
It's only when it has more than 4 legs that it gives me the creeps.
All bugs creep me out--esspecially small quick ones like spiders and crickets--strangly enough though, I am not afraid of tarantulas, we actually owned two when I was young, so I would even venture to hold one--I think they are all ugly though. mice, rats, frogs, lizards--I think those are are cute and I have no problem with them--just as long as it doesnt have an exoskeleton i'm fine.

One day my little grandson then about 2 had a spider in his hair and James and his mom were arguing who was going to get it. I walked up and just got it out and those two ran. So that is my spider story and I am sticking to it.
Now I do not like any rodent. Those give me the heebeegeebee's. New word or spelling.
That's funny Paula, I would do the same thing. My husband always has to kill the spiders for me.

Speaking of insects, a ladybug got into our bedroom last night and Bubba stood on the bed, on his back legs, clicking his teeth together. It sounded like a mini machine gun! I've never seen or heard anything like it.

Mickey does that too, chattering his teeth I mean.
When I had a ladybug in my bedroom the other day, on the ceiling, I had three cats on my bed, all looking up.
By the way frog8629 ... I love that picture of Dakota in her Christmas jacket. So cute and what a beautiful, original name.
