Jane : Wow! Canon 400D! A super good D-SLR! No wonder all the pics that you posted look so sharp and clear! Seems like you are a gadget gal too, just like Linda (jellybean)...

I totally agree with you.. My boys are also very active, and it is very difficult to get a good pic.. I tried to borrow my sis's Fujifilm compact digital cam.. Still not fast enough to take good pics with motions.. That's why I hope to get a reasonably good compact digital cam with fast shutter speed and big aperture (for indoor and low-light condition)... Still searching as of now...
Wilson, I saw on another post you're considering a Panasonic -- I truly endorse those -- I LOVE mine!!
Wilson, have you made a choice on which camera to buy? I have been following this thread because I too would like to have a better camera for kittie pictures.

Really?? That's great! I like the Panasonic LMX3 alot too... What model do you have right now? I remember I heard someone telling me that you are a professional photographer..

The reviews on the Panasonic DMC LMX3 and the newer model LZ7/ZS3 are very good, including dpreview, dcresource, cameralabs, photographyblog etc... Even though the LMX3 model is already one year old (launched in 2008), it is still one of the best (if not the best) recommended compact digicams in the market now.. Hehehe... The only major cons about this LMX3 is the lens cover and the limited 2.8x wide zoom...
I think I've told you that I have the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 - which is an older model. It has 12X optical zoom, plus it has Image stabilizer which I think all the Lumix Panasonics do. I also have the smaller Lumix DMC-LZ3 which I love. It's nice when I don't want to carry the bigger one and takes great pics although it's only a 5 megapixel camera. I'm far from a professional photographer, I just love to take pictures though. My niece is a professional photographer (you can see some of her pics of my girls, and Smoke, at

T : Wow! I just went to take a look at your niece's website... Simone and Samantha's pics taken by her are very nice! I also like the babies photos alot... She is able to capture the beautiful expression of the babies... What a great photographer!

If you prefer something easy, ie. just point-n-shoot, fully automatic, then you can consider Panasonic ZS3/LZ7 or Fujifilm F200EXR.. If you are interested in photography and will like to have some manual controls to play with, then you can consider Canon S90, Canon G11 or Panasonic DMC LMX3...

I am still in the midst of choosing between LMX3, G11 and S90... But, I am leaning towards LMX3 now.. Hahaha.. Also, I am waiting for the crazy Christmas sales!

Just wanna update you all.. Finally, I have bought my Panasonic Lumix DMC LX3 compact digicam today... Yippee!! It is quite big in size as compared to other compact digicams, but the image quality is very good, esp in low light! I have been researching like crazy for the last few weeks on reviews of compact digicams... Consolidated all the pros/cons of many different brands/models... Finally, I decided to go and get the LX3... I just tried to take some pics just now.. Well, I am impressed! Hopefully, in the next few days, I will be able to finish reading the user manual, and start shooting lotsa pics... Stay tuned!!
