One of the many things that attracted me to Ragdolls initially was their
size "potential" . I think males are supposed to average between 15 & 20 pounds. Zachary is on the petite side and at only 10 pounds he barely makes the weight class for a female. The vet says he is at a healthy weight, so I don't worry about it from that standpoint, but I'm just curious to know if he's all that unusual. Any other petite males out there?
My boy is 8.5 lbs - he's from a Balinese outcross line so I figure he's from a slinky crowd. I'm often surprised how small early Ragdolls are in photos - and not only the girls! :o)
How old is he? He could still be growing!

Zachary is 4 1/2, so probably done growing. He has gained a pound since his last vet visit which was about 1 1/2 years ago. He's a very picky eater - only eats his Eukanuba dry. I've tried interesting him in canned food and treats to no avail. I guess he's just one of those crazy kids who eats to live instead of lives to eat.

(something I can't personally relate to).
That's what made me interested about ragdolls too... I wanted a big fat cat! LOL. I can't tell what size Dexter is going to be. He went through a growth spurt last month and gained 3 pounds and I was super excited, but now this month he's barely gained any weight! He's 7.5 months and weighs 9 pounds. So who knows. He's still my lovebug whether he's a small raggie or a big one!
Hey Lindz,
I know the general rule is a 1lb per month while they are growing which I think tapers off once they are about 2? Anyone else know.
I hear a lot of people saying 12 lbs at 1 year old, so I think that Dex is definitely going to be a big boy!

If it is 12 then mine will be big. I did not weigh them Sat due to company but a week ago they were almost 12# so I am certain that Zeke is 12 and MYkah is crowding it. They are 9 months and today Mykah is 8. SO I think I am having big boys.

This is the reason I think Dexter might not be a big boy, because I hear of others rags on the forum who are HUGE! LOL. I think Dex is big for a "normal" cat, and maybe average size for a rag.
I guess we don't really count yet but Astro was 4lbs 1oz at his 13 week vet check last week. He seems huge to me compared to the average house cat at this age, but I don't have any Raggies to compare him to.

Gabriel is visibly smaller than Gabbie. However, the breeder told me that Gabbie was the biggest kitten in the liter. The vet seems to think that he is a good size.
