Op january 3th our two ragdoll kittens come to live with us, they are 12 weeks old by then.
The breeder feeds them roayl canin babycat and of course we bontinue this in the first weeks at home.
I like to know what's best for them, so I have a couple of questions:
1. Is it a good idea to give them a mix of brands to avoid them become picky eaters?
2. We like to free feed them with kibbles and give them once or twice a day wet food per portion. Is this a good idea?
3. What are good brands? In my town available are:
a) Acana
b) Almo nature holistic
c) Hill's
d) Iams
e) Royal Canin
f) Porta 21 holistic cat
They all have kitten food.
4. Is there another brand you would like to advice?

Thanks very much for answers!
Hill's and Royal Canin are the better quality/popular brands here in the UK. Changing brands suddenly is not a good idea as this can cause problems. It is best to keep them on what the breeder has raised them on and if you choose to change brands, to do so gradually by adding a very small amount to their existing brand over a long period of time. Royal Canin kitten 36 is a very good brand for the first year, this is what mine have.
Many owners give their kittens/cats wet food as a treat daily or a few times a week. Mine get tuna in spring water once a week as well as boiled ham which they love as a tit bit when I'm making a sandwich. They will otherwise have a pouch of felix kitten food between the 3 of them once a day, I don't want them having a lot of this as it will fill them up and they'll eat less kibble which is better for them.
1. You can give a mix and it can make it easier if they decide to go off one, but it is not needed.
2. Good idea.
3. Kitten blends are a good idea for kittens - compared to an all life stages food that is good for kittens AND adults.
4. If IAMS is available and you are considering that, see about Eukanuba and consider the Eukanuba kitten food if it is available. (For wet kitten food, it is available in IAMS, but not Eukanuba). Eukanba is the "better" brand from the same company, although they seem to be breaking IAMS itself into sub-brands.
I will be buying Royal Canin kitten 36 as this is what my breeder is feeding the kittens now... I heard that Sannabelle and Wellness is considered as premium dryfood for cats... But they are very expensive though..
What is the brand that your breeder is using now? Maybe you can ask yr breeder and ask for his/her advice.. Smile
My vet was thrilled when I told her that the Gs are eating a mixture with Royal Canin as one half of the mixture. The other half of the mixture is Pirina One Kitten-which is not on your list. The Royal Canin is Royal Canin 36. The bag is resealable!
