Has anyone tried The Purrfect Post scratching post? I am particularly interested in "The Mondo" http://www.purrfectpost.com/mondo.html. I want to add another sisal post and this one looks FANTASTIC for the big guys.
That link wouldn't open for me, sorry...
We have these from Angelical and the cats like them. (Despite the claim for the Mondo, note that they have a much taller sisal carpet post - and one the same height.)

That's weird. The site is working, but the link to the same address won't open it. Try this one and then select The Mondo Info from the link on the left: http://www.purrfectpost.com/index.html
Wow! thats a really big scratching post---and that's a giant cat using it in the bottom right corner. Looks like it would be good--never tried it though.
Hi Julie!

I have this scratching post. Actually I have several. Smile My cats prefer the smaller ones over the Mondo. I only bought one Mondo and I think they don't like it as well because it is so fat around. Marley likes to wrap his front paws around the post. However, they do sit on top of it and use it occasionally I just think they like their standard upright better. These are AWESOME scratching post and they look brand new after months of use.
Here's Marley sitting on top, he was smaller then and could do this but he can only sit upright on it now. Smile[Image: IMG_0861.jpg]
Hi Deb!

I'm starting to get that we have similar tastes. I like the looks of these scratching posts and they seem like they would be well-made. Thanks for the review and the picture (SO CUTE!).

Yes, I smiled when I saw your post and thought I better post a photo you may not believe it. Smile
I forgot to tell you that I used to have a german shepherd (two actually) and a cat named Tasha.
Thanks Jan! I'll check that out too.
Those are nice posts -- just an alternative to consider, you can build your own scratch posts too.

I used a 1" x 4" and wrapped it in sisal and attached it to the girls' condo -- they love to stretch up as far as possible and sometime climb up to the top and into the condo on it.

Then I put one on a slant out on their ladder complex (I wrapped the ladders too and they use those), and I also have one on my chiffarobe they use as a scratching post and ramp.

Finally I bought some small sisal scratching mats for the "horizonal" surface. These are nice in that they last forever, however, when they start scratching on them they lift up from the floor making for an unsatisfactory scratch - so I cut a thin piece of wood the size of them and staple gunned the mat to it -- that holds it down and make a long lasting (forever) scratch surface.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread, just thought you might be interested in some low cost alternatives.
