I haven't noticed any staining, and I use pine pellets.

Nope. Untreated wood (which is what the pellets are) doesn't stain even when wet. The colour is just normal pine sawdust colour.

Sometimes the pellets can be a bit dusty in the bag so I used a slotted scoop to get then out for use so there was less dust around.
