Some vets do not use external stitches. If they are used they are easy to take out and the incision is well healed before you do it. You can have your vet do it also - and you should have a vet visit soon after any new kitten arrives anyway. You do want some recovery time between surgery and leaving for a new home, longer for a spay than a castration.
