hi there

I'm new to this forum. Based in England, I have a 1 year old ragdoll/burmese cross that I rescued from cruelty at a local farm.

She is beautiful and I think is classed as a seal point?

i have never had a 'lady' cat before and she has started to do the most distressing howling sound. With this she is also poking her bum in the air and 'paddling' her back feet. i think she's in 'heat'.

Any advise on how to help her or is she ok. She is a house cat and doesn't go out, unless she makes a dash for it and then I chase her round the garden.

Thanks[/font]
I don't think there is much you can do to help her right now, but as soon as she is out of heat, I would get her to a vet and get her spayed as quickly as possible. No only are heats awful for you to listen to, but they are hard on the female cat, and over time can cause health problems.

By the way -- welcome to the forum, and I hope you stay around and share pics with us. Thank you for rescuing a cat in need!!
Talk to the vet now. Many will spay a queen in heat and you may not need to wait.
Spay her ASAP (as soon as possible).
She's in heat by the sounds of it. Get her spayed asap. Coming into heat and not mating her will cause her to loose condition and can cause a wide variety of health problems (so can mating her). She will pad her back legs for a few days to a week, this is the time she will mate, once she stops padding she will be reluctant to mate (but could still happen) so get her to the vet to prevent any unwanted pregnancies and possible health problems. She will come into heat every 2 weeks or so on average.
Hi and welcome to the forum Smile
Now you can’t do anything, you have to wait the heat is gone away and then you should go to the vet and get your cat spayed.
Usually It is recommended to spay female cat (but not only cat, also dog, rabbit…) for health reason, because a female not spayed can have serious problems like a tumour on her reproductive system, above all if she hasn't ever had kitten
Welcome to the forum! I am looking forward to seeing pictures of your lovely lady. Love the name Kai!

That is interesting that some vets will spay a queen in heat. Kai, on this forum you learn something new everyday!
