Pandora has now moved on to pee on my leather couch! Have got two litter boxes, even put her in,but hopes out to pee on the couch! Help! She has done it twice, even after i cleaned it with Natures miricle.
When we got our first raggie she too had pee issues. We originally kept her isolated from our older gal in our bedroom. She had choice of litter, size of box, etc. Sometimes she preferred the empty box to any box with litter and then she moved on to the bed itself. She was drinking a lot of water at that time. Obsessively so which of course made her wee all the more. We would be in mid play and she'd stop, squat, pee and move on right in front of us. We never yelled, or punished her in any way as others have said that could add to her stress.

We went to the vets several times over the pee issue and was finally given an antibiotic just in case she had an undetected urinary infection. At first we thought it helped, but she began to pee again, adding the corner on the carpet to her favorite spots and many more times on the bed.

So, what we did was while we worked we kept her in our bathroom with the light on as our bathroom has no windows for natural light, with a litter box, food and water and no rugs on the floor. I felt bad leaving her in there, but if her problem wasn't medical then we had to find a way to stop the behavior. I worried about her getting in the tub and not being able to get out to eat, drink, etc, so I hung this scratchy thing over the tub so she had a way out. We'd go to her first upon arriving home to let her out. She never weed on the bathroom floor, always in the box. We kept all rooms of temptation closed off from her, i.e., our bedroom door was kept closed. We watched her like a hawk and periodically placed her in a box. Nine times out of 10 she'd wee. We had boxes everywhere, middle of the living room, kitchen, dining room, etc. We wanted to make sure she had one near. If for some reason we had to leave the house or were too busy to watch her like a hawk, she was placed in prison (bathroom). We did this for a month, but as time went on, she grew, maybe her bladder grew, who knows, but it finally stopped. We continued the ban of the bedroom for a couple more months and then let her in but only if supervised. Eventually all is well.

I'm not sure if any of my ramblings will help you, but know you are not alone and yeah, it's very frustrating but sometimes these things do happen. Hang in there.
I like what kewlkat did. If I were having problems, isolation in a small room such as a laundry room or bathroom during unsupervised times would be exactly what I would try.

Along with that, I'd see about discouraging her from the couch altogether. Either by simply you physically keeping her away from the area, or deterring her from the area. You can try one of those plastic little mats that you put on carpet for an office chair to roll more easily on...flip it upside down and put that on the couch. The underside is pokey, but not sharp enough to cause harm although definitely not something any cat would want to walk on, sleep on, or pee on. That way if she jumps up there it will be a deterrent and hopefully enough to get her to steer clear of the couch. Another good deterrent is smelly stuff. I know at pet stores there are sprays that you can buy to try as a deterrent. I also have heard cats really dislike the scent of citrus.

Good luck, patience and persistence will pay off!
Cat attract litter has always helped me with that issue. Since it's pricey I just coat the top layer.

Good Luck!
I went to pet smart last night and got Dr Else's Kitten attract as someone suggested, and i bought filiway plug in also recomended, Well, she is isolated in the bathroom and so far so good she has gone in the box. I will leave her in their for a couple of days , she actually doesn't mind, my bathroom is not that small or too big. I was thinking maybe it might be my dog Delilah. She has her nose in her box like she is diving! She comes up with corn all over her face like it was chocolate!LOL! I have caught her eating the poop out of the box!YUK! I can not cover the box because Pandora doesn't go in it. They are getting use to each other, but Pandora will still run under and hide then come out when Pandora wasn't confined.Maybe she's nervous to go around her? I just hope when she ventures out it doesn't happen. I'm just glad she's using her box now! It's only been a day,but i'm excited! Hope to get a picture up soon. Thanks for all the advice it has been a great help , i'm so glad i found this site!
thanks again!
We only left ours in the bathroom when we weren't able to really watch her or if we had to leave the house. We did not leave her in there all the time. Did her accidents happen when Delilah was out and about or near Pandora? Certainly if she doesn't feel safe so to speak when in the box, that could cause her to seek out other places to go.

My parents had a domestic many years ago that unfortunately loved to wee on leather. Any leather, a coat, the recliner, etc. Leather does smell and I always figured she was drawn to that scent. I can't recall how it was resolved regarding the recliner, but the leather coats had to be put where they belonged and if only left for a moment, she'd nail them. We thought originally ours was attracted to the bed because of a comforter. It wasn't much of one, very old and pretty flat after years of use so we just used sheets on top. It made no difference, she'd wee on the sheets as well.

Hopefully the kitty attract will help, but if she doesn't feel comfortable in the location of the box because of Delilah, she may revert back to other places.

Keep us posted on what develops.
We have never had any problems with our kittens and the breeder advised us to clean the litter tray with diluted bleach, as they are attracted to the smell, and to make sure that if they ever did have an accident to clean it with a citrus smelling product, or to spray something with citrus in it on the spots.
