Just thought I would up date you all with how Coco got on at the vets today.
Well I think it's good news. Although her temperature was still the same, he said he was happy not to do her bloods, because she seemed to be better. She has been eating, drinking, pooing and playing normally. She still has a couple of days to go on the antibiotics and he has given me some prebiotics to take after the antibiotics have finished. She also gained 6 oz and is now 5 lb 8 oz (20 weeks old)
Do you think I have been given good advise as I have no experience in these matters?

Hi Louise,
I am so sorry to hear that Coco Dior has been ill. I think it is a good sign that the vet doesn't want to take blood. Do you feel like you have a good knowledgable vet that you can trust? Another great sign is the running around and normal behaviour. We had little Ava off to the vet about a week after she arrived. She had spent 4 hours vomitting and crying when she used the litter box. Nearly broke my heart, but it turned out to be a minor gastro problem. The vet gave her some antibiotics and something to stop her vomitting and she slept for most of that day but was back to normal the next morning. Maybe take it day by day and monitor how Coco Dior is doing. If you are really concerned and stressed about it, then ask the vet to do the blood test nonetheless and be sure.
Hi Kathryn,
He does seem to be knowledgable, but so he should be he is a vet!lol! But I don't know if I can trust him. When we first had Coco and I took her to the vets for a health check he didin't notice that she had earmites and she must of had it from the breeder because we only have Coco. I was a bit peed off about this because we are still struggling to get rid of them now! I think that when she has finished her anti and prebiotics I will take her back to get checked again and her temp should have gone down.
Hmmm, I'm such a worry wart myself that I would have been inclined to ask him to do the bloods anyway just to check -- but that's just me. I think it's unusual for her fever to last so long - but it's good that she's eating and gaining weight!

Yes I agree, I will take her back next week to check again. Thanks.
I have to agree with Teresa.
I am happy she seems to be feeling better
I hate to think of such an adorable girl being sick. Glad that she is doing better. Good wishes for her continued recovery!
I'm glad Coco is feeling better but I agree with you the vet should have noticed the earmites when you first brought her there. That's what they look for in a first visit. Always go with your gut feeling and if you don't feel right don't hesitate to find another vet.

Thanks, I think I might do that!
Yes definitely, I somewhat had the feeling that Solo might have asthma when he was doing this cough thing. The vet I took him to actually didn't bother taking x rays of his chest, although I wanted some done. We went home with antibiotics, and now a month later the cough is back. I went to a different vet that took xrays and highly suspects asthma. I am very disappointed in the other vet I went to and am probably not going back there. Long story short, I also think you should definitely go with your gut!
