Frankie is a single Raggie, I got him at 3 months. He is 18 months now.He is quite vocal at times, but I think he is quite laid back on the whole, but I am at home most of the time and only away for a few hours a couple of times a week. On those occasions when he has been left for longer times he has not shown any ill effects and just accepts it! I too always leave the radio on. I think most of them will adjust to situations given time. Sometimes people get a second Raggie and they don't get on at all and it just creates a stressfull situation!
Teddy is an only kitty here. I am home everyday all day since I am disabled but I have noticed that since I had my little dog here when Teddy came to live with us he is really needing a brother. He enjoyed her company and has missed her since she passed away. I am now looking for another little dog for both of us.
Hello! I was worried about the same thing for Dakota--exactly the same thing in fact---sat, sun, then back to work. Is it possible for you to come home on your lunch break? maybe you can break up the time he spends alone into shorter chunks (thats what I try to do with Dakota) But I have found that he mostly sleeps when my husband and I are not around, and is very happy when we return. How long will he be alone? I think leaving the radio or TV on is a good idea too.
Hello, we have one ragdoll too- Albus. He stays at home by himself Moday-Friday 8.30am to 3.10pm until the children get home. He is not depressed and is a very happy kitty from what I can tell, though he does leap and do freaky little flips when we arrive home which is him expressing his excitement that he has his friends back. He sleeps most of the weeks days away. We try to give him enough attention and play time as possible when we are home and he seems to thrive in our environment. Saying all of that, I am considering getting another so that he has company when we're not home.
I have a single Ragdoll too, and we were home with him all the time since we're retired. Although he's a timid cat in personality anyway, I think our situation has made him overly dependant on us. I'll get two together next time.
I think if you are going to be gone a lot I would get another. You could also just get a domestic cat to keep him company. One of the best cats I ever had was found hanging on a friend of ours screen as a kitten. For me personally, I don't think having two is any harder than one. Smile
I have a beautiful kitten named Pandora i had got on Halloween. I have a Mastiff named Delilah and a Mini lionmain Lop Bunnie named Baby. Pandora loves (of course) the bunnie, but still is in the process of exploring Delilah. When i first brought her home i got her on Saturday, and i took the Monday and Tuesday off so i could spend time with her. The first day she hid in the same spot in the bed room all day . She got better day by day, we had a peeing problem, and a false diagnosis at the vet, but everything is fine now. I worry about everything too. She still cries when i get home as to say "Where were you"! You are going to love your new kitten, my Whole family fell in love. I am still learning and it is all about patience, maybe in the future i might get another!
The reason that I have two is so that could have each other and not get so lonesome while I am away at work. Mine are both Raggies. However, that was not my initial plan. I had planned that if I was going to get two I would get one Raggie and one kitten from a shelter. However, I fell head over heels for the Gs and could not resist them.
