Hello, everyone!

My name is Mariann and I have lots of kitties...all different kinds...none of them registered pure-breds, but all of them loved.

I have a couple blogs that I do, a humour website and would love to be a paid writer one day.

While I was watching Animal Planet's "Cats 101" tonite, there was a segment on Ragdolls. I've often thought my cat, Sophie, was a Ragdoll...or at least "mostly" Ragdoll...but everything I read before --and saw again tonite states that they are quite large cats.

Sophie is very petite (and is around 4 years old) - but has the markings of a Ragdoll...and I've always wondered, so I figured here was the perfect place to ask. Smile

What does everyone think? Is there another type of cat which could look so "Ragdoll" but be so tiny? I also think her face looks extremely "French".

Thank you!
Hi Marrian.. you must be near our very own Teresa.. she lives in Alabama..
Sophie certainly looks to have alot of Ragodoll in her.. she has the markings of a seal bi colour and not all ragdolls grow to be very big. He coat looks a little short to be pure raggie, so I would imagine she is a ragdoll cross.. she is very pretty. Glad to have you join us xxx
Hi and welcome to the forum, from a fellow Alabamian!

Sophie is just lovely, though it's doubtful she's ragdoll. Many cats look and act like Ragdolls, and that's what eventually bring people to get ragdolls sometimes. I had a cat, Simon, who looked and acted like a seal point ragdoll. He was a lovely big boy and when he died, I knew I wanted a cat with the same type traits, so I bought two Ragdolls.

Ragdoll or not - we're all cat lovers here, and you're very welcome.
Three genes will give a cat (1) white on the fur and (2/3) points. Many cats have all of these Ragdoll characteristics and are not Ragdolls and do not have any Ragdoll in their background. That being said, experiences with such wonderful cats introduce people to the Ragdoll breed and some later do get Ragdolls.
