Hi there,

After many many hours of soul searching and debate, we have finally arrived at the sad but inevitable conclusion that Misty needs to be rehomed (please do not give me a hard time about this, it is not something we have arrived at easily and is breaking both our hearts).

Misty is a 14 month old blue colourpoint Raggie boy and is as beautiful as he is intelligent. He is fully vaccinated and has a monthly treatment with Advocate (bought from the Vet).

He comes with his pedigree papers, vaccination record and all the accessories you will ever need for a cat as we have pretty well bought him the whole world since we had him.

He enthusiastically uses a scratching post and we have a leather suite that has never been clawed. He also loves to be groomed and will let you clip his claws (although it's tolerated rather than enjoyed).

Misty is an indoor cat and has only ever seen the outside world through the window or from his cat carrier, and we would hope and expect that his new family would never let him out alone, as I am certain he would not survive.

Although he has never lived with other cats (since he left the breeder), I am sure he would adapt, as he really is the most social little guy and loves everyone who comes to our home including the children of our friends.

He is used to being left during the working day and is always delighted to see you in the evening, following you around and keeping you company in the kitchen whilst you cook dinner. He loves to play and his favourite toys are a shoelace and a crisp packet with a knot tied in it which he will fetch as long as you are happy to throw the packet for him.

Misty is a very special boy and deserves a very special new home, so if you or someone you know will love him as much as we do can offer him a new family, please contact me.

He will need to be collected from our home in Adelaide, South Australia.

Thank you

I am so sorry to hear this- it sounds like you love him very much! I'm certain someone in your country will snatch him right up & love him? Would you mind sharing the reason you need to rehome him? Again, I'm sure evryone feels badly for you! Let us know how things turn out.Sad

Thanks for your comments. I am having a really hard time dealing with this and I am afraid that if I go into too much detail on here someone may give me a hard time which will make a bad situation almost unbearable. I will explain the reasons behind our decision to the person who wants to rehome Misty, but I can assure you that it has absolutely nothing to do with him at all and is purely a decision we have had to make because of our circumstances.

I sincerely hope that someone will be able to offer our boy a new loving home.

Thanks

Hi Danni

Maybe you are limited to 2 cats, but what about your partner...? Maybe they would like to give a loving home to an adorable Raggie. He would melt their heart, I promise.

When do you have to rehome him by? He sounds just like my Pickles (Edward) and they are about the same age. It seems like they would be perfect together!

ALTHOUGH, i'm in a very difficult living situation at the moment. We are renting my boyfriend's sister's house and she has it on the market. Our house is currently being constructed but won't be ready until March... If his sister manages to sell her house before ours is ready, i will have to move into my parents house for however long WITH my two cats. My parents already have 2 cats which are allowed to roam inside and outside as they please, and my cats are indoors only. So that is already going to be quite hard. I dont think we could take on another cat incase that was to happen.

BUT we are planning to get a new raggie when we move into our new place. At the moment i have my name on a waiting list already for a kitten. Our older moggie doesnt particularly like other cats either. She still hisses at edward and swipes if he gets too close. I dont know how she would go if we adopted another cat thats also twice her size.

If you could give me a bit of a time limit and whether you think he could handle flying to Brisbane, I might be able to think more about it. I have already emailed my boyfriend and he seems like he could cave.

Our house will be ready by April at the latest and it would probably be a good idea to let our existing cats settle first.
Oh, Im so sorry you have had to come to this conclusion. I wish I could take him but 2 is our limit here too.

Have you contacted his breeder? His breeder would want to be helping in his rehoming and they may just have a person who wants an older Raggie.

Have you posted on here http://www.cat-world.com.au/forums ,you may get more interest as it is a lot bigger forum (over 12,000 members) and Australian too. I would also say post him on http://www.petlink.com.au/Cats/Advertising_Board/ if you havent already.

I hope he finds a wonderful home soon and if anyone I know wants a Ragdoll, I will show them your boy.

Cloe, another South Australian Smile
Thank you so much to all of you, I am in tears sitting here reading all your replies and how wonderful everyone is in wanting to help.

With regards to a time scale, we are hoping to get Misty rehomed as soon as possible so we don't have to love him each day knowing that he will soon be leaving, although for the right home, I would be happy to wait until the new year, if it was a definite new home.

He could make it to Brissie, as it's not too far and a couple of hours on a plane wouldn't be too stressful for him, especially if you were able to come over and fly with him so he can be picked up and dropped off by someone rather than replying on impersonal shippers.

If you are serious about adopting him, please do let me know, and I will definitely put him on the other Aussie boards in the hope that the right family can be found.

I didn't think of the breeder, as I didn't want him to worry, but I will contact him and see if he is able to help.

Thanks again, you are all so kind.

Ok, so I contacted the breeder, I posted on here and on the other forum as advised and so far no joy. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to where I might go to find Misty a new home, I don't want to have to resort to the RSPCA as I have heard they destroy even healthy animals after only a few days, and that is unthinkable for Misty.

Please, please can someone help us, we are desperate to find Misty a new home.

Thank you
