I was cooking in the kitchen with Shoko and Achilles laying nearby, very quiet and relaxed, keeping me company. I had just opened a can of chicken noodle soup when all of a sudden, I heard a stampede of little paws running towards me. I turned around to look down into the most hopeful and innocent looking eyes. (They could almost give a puppy a run for its money, haha). I was all confused why they had gathered around and were looking at me like that when all of a sudden, it hit me. They thought me opening the soup can meant canned food for them! I couldn't help but laugh out loud since I guess opening a soup can and wet food can sound pretty darn alike. I told them, "Well, if you guys really want chicken noodle soup that bad...here you go." Just kidding. Even though I had already given them their wet food for the day, I couldn't resist their eagerness and cutie faces and gave them another helping.

adorable! the exact same thing happened to me when i was making my boyfriends lunch. Was mixing tuna and mayonaise and they just got so excited at the tuna that i had to give them a bit.
LOL....they have you so well trained with those innocent looks of theirs! I always give Simone a little wet cat food when we sit down to eat dinner (Samantha isn't interested in it at that time...don't know why) - but from my first trip into the dining room to put our food on the table, Simone starts meowing for hers - until that time, she's perfectly content to lay on the kitchen floor watching me.
When I serve Puff his wet food- I call out-"hurry, hurry" and he comes running as fast as he can for his evening meal. when he is nowhere to be found- I also call out "hurry, hurry" and out he comes- then I must give him his wet food -
I also gave him a piece of my chicken during dinner and now he sits and begs like a dog- if i don't give him a piece of what i am eating- he swats my arm with is paw as if to say- look over here- I'm waiting- I created a monster named Puff Apollo!
I opened a can of smoked oysters and both my cats wents NUTS!!. Since I am in the process of getting their dry diet straightened out they don't get wet food right now so I have not been "opening cans" for them to eat wet food. I think it was the overpowering smell of the oysters that drove them nuts. When done I had to wash the sink and take out the trash. So I learned when we have oysters or sardines must double bag the remains and take out right away.
On of my precious came with bad habit of garbage scavaging. I just don't want to encourage this behavior more hence the throwing out remains of the fishy/sea food can remains.
