Then you'll also remember in the Ape House you got to see the most dangerous animal in the World? Do you remember what is was?

So you've been to The Bronx?
Not the zoo and not in the Bronx as a destination. A visit was not needed for that one. ; )

The White Plains Station or the Croton Station? The only place that has little shops is in the villiage of Croton but that is not near the Station. Downtown W.P. has grown quite a bit since "The Donald" has built some very impressive buildings.

I lived in the Wakefield section of the Bronx for years and then spent 17 years in the Pelham Pkwy section. Graduated from Evander Childs in 73"

The croton station. In the early 70's they had shops in a building by the train station.
Yes, the WP I remember is no more. It used to be a sleepy hamlet with an RKO theatre on main street, as well as a Macy's. (I'm dating myself, aren't I) We can now see skyscrapers (of a sort) from my son's window, who lives in Valhalla.
Gail- I started out in NY, moved down south to Nashville, then up to PA for 13 long years, with the cape as our summer constant, until we moved up here. Staying on the east coast here as well, though I would love to live in Northern Calif, or New Mexico to see what it's like.

Macy's moved and is now in the Galleria Mall. I'll date myself also because I can remember when the only Mall in WP use to be The White Plains Mall on Hamilton St. You also now have "The Westchester" Mall. I miss the Bronx very much but the Bronx I knew no longer exists. Sad My old neighborhood in Wakefield began it's decline in the 80's. Pelham Pkwy followed suit in the 90's.

I loved food shopping there. I could walk to Lydig Ave for Bagels, Lox, Knishes, Smoked Chubs.etc.,then head up to Williamsbridge Rd for the Italian stuff like fresh Macoroni's (Pasta) and Sauce (Gravy) Salami's, Cheeses and then hit the Bakeries for bread and pastries walking home.

I lived almost halfway between Lydig Ave - awesome food and between Allerton Ave. - Italian food. It was fun to see and smell the deli, fish store, and real bakery shops.
Hi everyone!

I'm getting my first Ragdoll in 2 weeks and am so excited and a bit nervous. In fact, it's my first cat of any kind. I've always had dogs. We just had to put down our 17 yr. old Lhasa and I don't want another dog to potty train and walk outside. I've read all I can get my hands on about rags and so glad to find this website to learn more and connect with other owners. I've already learned a lot from lurking on this site. My kitty will be a female blue bicolor. She is getting spayed this week before we get her. Her name will be Annabelle and I'll call her Annie.

I will be posting questions as I think of them and appreciate all the advice I can get!

I live in Huntsville, AL
