Jill, I just love it!!!! absolutely gorgeous!!!!!
I have a pond all so, but I'm under trees so not a lot of sun to grow plants so my jewels are my koi fish.
Thanks Linda...we just replenished our fish this year...a great blue heron decided to help himself to the fish in our pond last year!
O'Yes, Jill we have met the a heron too,,,,,the damage a Heron can do in a little pond.
That is one reason why we don't trim are trees so he can't see them from the air anymore.
Have to admit tho they are one awesome looking bird,,,, like something prehistoric.
The frist time I saw one come into my pond ...I didn't have a clue what it was I thought it was a 747 coming in..and the noise it makes with it's wings o' my..........
My mouth hit the ground... and I just stud there till I seen that he had come for dinner...I yelled at him but he wouldn;t leave.Sad
I don't no if you ever head of this but my neighbor does it.. if you run fishing line around the perimeter of your pond they won't come in,there not to smart and won't step over it.
Jill- Marvelous photos, with clear close-ups. Your flowers are beautiful.
OH WOW!!!! How beautiful. Those pics are pretty enough to be made into note cards or postcards. What gorgeous blooms.
Thanks Judy and Teresa!... at least the deer don't eat the plants in the pond!...
Is this your pond Jill? Whow it's beautiful.
Hi Jill,

You pond is absolutely beautiful!! A few years ago I dug a very small pond (preformed) I have 1 koi and 2 chubumpkins, and rest gold fish. A couple of years ago a heron, (never saw one in my area before this)got two of my fish. I saw him on my neighbors roof so I know it was him. I then put a net over my small pond and have been afraid to take it off ever since. My daughter had the same thing happen to her. She lives 40 miles away but a heron got 6 of her fish. My neighbor recently gave me a large plastic owl that is supposed to scare off predators, but I am taking no chances. Now getting the pond ready for the winter. (I live in New Jersey)I do leave the pump on 24/7 365.....Any advice on predators I would greatly appreciate.

Hi Linda,

I have had a run in with a heron. That suggestion of running fish line around the pool, I wonder if it works. Have you tried it?
