How are things going with Redford and the rest of your gang?
Is he home and how is it going? Have fun anyway..
Thanks everyone for checking on us!

Lots to report...Newman's brother is home and I adore him. He doesn't have a name yet. I'm determined to settle on one within the next day or two because it feels wrong not to call him anything. I just decided "Redford" didn't feel right. Yesterday I was thinking about "Tucker" but today - I don't like it. I'm hoping it'll come to me very soon.

He started sneezing in the car on the way home and sneezing more when we got inside. He seemed very sweet (a bit more shy than Newman) but as the day went on...I thought he might be sleeping a bit much for a 16 week old kitten. I didn't want to keep comparing him to how Newman behaved since he's not Newman but his overall energy level seemed lower than it should be. As the night went on the sneezing increased. I was very happy that he was eating and drinking and using the litter box and he did play a bit too. (but he napped a lot) I spoke with the breeder and she told me he hadn't been sneezing at her house at all and could be the change of environment. She said if he was eating and drinking and no discharge from his eyes or nose he was probably fine.

Sunday morning I could see some crusted mucus (sorry to be gross) under his nose and I was too worried to wait so we headed to the vet. I forgot to mention - he's WAY smaller than Newman so I think in the back of my mind I was wondering if he was small b/c he's been sick. The vet put my fears to rest. He told me that the new kitten's temperature was normal. His mouth and gums look good. His heart is strong - lungs clear and he just seems like an overall healthy kitten with an uri that didn't progress very far.

He gave him an antibiotic shot and sent him home with antibiotic (Clavamox)

By early evening he was playing a ton more and really exploring instead of napping so much. He's still sneezing but I figure that won't stop right away (hopefully soon though b/c I do really worry!) I think he'll be fine.

He only weighs 3 lbs 7 oz at 16 weeks. Even though the vet said he's fine - I'm guessing he'll be a smaller ragdoll as a grown up. (Newman is WAY bigger).

The only other thing...I should have known better, but Newman snuck into his brother's "safe room" within minutes of me bringing him home and I let him stay. I should have stuck to what I know is right and not let them meet until I knew the new baby was healthy. So far so good - but I'm definitely worried Newman (and maybe my adults) will start sneezing. I'll feel pretty guilty if they do get sick. Does anyone know how long after being exposed they would show symptoms if they were to get an URI from the new kitten? I know it's very contagious. I just hope they don't have to suffer for my mistake.

Overall though - things are good and I love my new baby!
beautiful blue eyes- Sinatra would be a good name. Once he has the URI and had the injection plus oral meds- after 24- 48 hours he should not be contagious. I am glad it wasn't allergies! take care and just watch for any symptoms.
How exciting it is to bring in a new baby- lucky you!
Judy/Puff
i still like the the name Corbin Blu.
or Zeus
So glad that things are going well with the little one and hope he's over is URI soon.
