Hello everyone,

I read some of the posts regarding frequent diarrhea for cats... I saw this link that mentions about the Tritrichomonas Foetus parasite infection, which can cause frequent diarrhea and bloody stools, and could lead to Inflammatory Bowel Disease.. The write-up is very good and informative... See below :-

Any comments? Are the Ragdoll breeders and vets aware about this fearful parasite?

Thks!

Yes. This has gotten attention. However, it is not the first thing to consider with loose stools, which are most often something minor. In fact, most GI upsets are on the mend in two days.
Hello JanH,

Yup! For diarrhea of a few days, then I guess it is not likely caused by the T. Foetus parasite.. But, since this feline parasite issue is on the rise, is there any breeder that has done the test for T. Foetus on their cats and kittens, so that they will not spread? I think it will be a good thing to do, esp breeders with very large cattery...

I have never heard about this T. Foetus parasite in Singapore... I might go to the vet and ask more info about it...
Thks!

I have read of folks who were considering testing, but nobody has reported that the test results were positive for them that I recall.

Even the link you provided did not recommend testing where there were not undiagnosed cases of diarrhea.
Opps! I just saw similar thread posted by Kewlkat on this T. Foetus parasite... Sorry about that...
