Like yours he was happy enough, but was just repeatedly in and out of the litter box with no results.
Interestingly our vet said that this is common in male cats especially large inactive male cats and well that kind of describes him! lol
It was funny really, our vet was describing how this condition is common in cats which are "large and lazy" he was cuddling soren at the time and I said jokingly " surely you are not describing soren"? and he said " O no, not soren. But soren's "friend" lol Didn't want to give the poor guy a complex about his size or anything! lol
The vet did perscribe "cystaid" its a kind of suppliment that some studies show can reduce the insidences of it reacuring. Soren takes two capsuls a day.
Hope your little one feels better soon.
Thanks for that Clare. Coral too, reccommended /systaid and I have been looking at it on the Vet-UK site. It's pretty expensive but they are also reoccommending another identical product which is considerably cheaper and 300 caps rather than 250, it'scalled Systease S. Worth a look if you are using it regularly. I am waiting to see how Frankie goes before giving him anything else, I'm hoping it is a 1 off. I am puzzled, as with him it wasn't frequency rather the reverse, he certainly wasn't trying to use the tray and not succeeding and I have found nothing anywhere else yet and there is no trace of a smell anywhere, Sue, who visited today, will vouch for that! Yet his bladder was only a 3rd full when the vet checked him! he has been using his tray again today, so hopefully things are back to normal for now, anyway!
................I know how it is Mary, most of my visitors these days barge past me to get to B & T.........my cousin has recently emigrated to Switzerland and his e.mails to me invariably ask how B & T are, before he asks how I am??!!!!
