hi all,

titan has food poisoning, just like me and my boyfriend. yes we gave him some ham we just brought from the deli. it was fresh and my boyfriend gave it to him not me so please dont attack me over this i do not want to hear it no matter what your opinions are i already feel guilty enough.

but i am severely concerned for him. of course all three of us have come down with it pretty bad. i fear for his safety for than my own. i wish i could sue the deli over this!!!!

anyways i rang the vet as he has vomitting and diarrhoea. they said to keep an extremely close eye on him, keep his fluids up, moniter his output, and call them immediately if he gets worse i have the after hours vet's number too.

i hope my baby is going to be alright. im scared for him.
oh Danni I am so sorry Sad You and your boyfriend must be feeling awful also ... You have no reason to feel guilty! How could you have known!
Hopefully you all get over this quickly... keep us updated.
How's Titan doing? Poor little guy Sad (and how are YOU feeling, too, since you got sick as well?)
Aww don't feel guilty there is no way you could have known. Mine always request a little piece of ham when I am having some (well the Rags want some, the Birman is not interested).
Make sure he is drinking enough that is really the most important thing. I send you good vibes for you and the little one Smile
I"m so sorry Danni - and right after he has gotten over his other illness. I know you must be worried sick. Is there nothing the vet can do for him? If he's still vomitting and diarrhea, I'd be tempted to take him in and just get fluids for him to make sure he keeps his levels up and can fight back against it.

Sending hugs....
Hopefully he will start to improve soon. If he becomes dehydrated, the vet can deal with that rather easily with sub q fluids, but you should call about it if you believe he is. If you do not know how to check, you pull the skin over the shoulders up. If it quickly goes back down the cat is not badly dehydrated. If it holds up, clings together and more slowly goes back down, then the cat is dehydrated.

(I cannot resist noting that "food poisoning" is caused by the contaminants in raw meat that the raw meat folks claim are no problem for cats. In fact, the wrong bite can be dangerous.)
Danni- I hope all goes well, and I'm sorry all three of you are sick. Please keep us up dated about Titan.
Hope you are all getting better. I had that a year ago when I bought some snowpeas frozen. Oh my was I sick and of course I was suppose to be watching Mom while every one else went to Hawaii for a wedding. I think it was mom taking care of me. Had I been home I would have gone to ER and anyone who knows me knows I am not fond of drs of any kind.

Anyway, hope all is well.
well last night i had a temp of 38 degrees which is farenheit 100.4
still feel horrible.
titan has piped up mainly because both my mums cats are here for the day because she is out of town. i tried to separate them but it really was not possible.

thank you Janh for adising me how to tell if he is dehydrated. i agree with you about the meat. but it was meant to be 'fresh' as we brought it just that day. i intend to call to supermarket and abuse them.
Yes, I understand you were not eating raw meat. ; ) However, you got hit by the same microbes that lurk in raw meat as well - and that are claimed not to bother cats.
