For the second time I have had to re-send an e-mail to my breeder. I am sending an e-mail only once a week. I realize that she has other phone calls, e-mails, etc. to attend to. I know that she read the e-mail I sent five days ago because she changed Gabbie's name on the web site. Yet, she never responded to the questions that I had. I basically just asked how Gabriel and Gabbie are doing. No response. Yesterday I sent a payment to her via Paypal for Gabriel. A few minutes ago I sent an e-mail requesting confirmation that she had received the payment. Also, I asked again how Gabriel and Gabbie are doing. Am I just getting too nervous because this waiting before I can get Gabriel and Gabbie is driving me crazy?
Try calling her, does she have a phone number?
I keep hearing more and more of this where breeders seems unresponsive to e-mails. Seems to me this would be a great way for them to communicate and quickly too. If they are going to be out and unavailable for a number of days for vacation, would it really hurt for them to set up their e-mails to bounce back that they are unavailable and a date they will get back to them? I don't think you're being unreasonable at all to expect an immediate response to the receipt of funds, and also an answer about how they are doing. How far is your breeder from you?
I know excellent, busy breeders who respond quickly only when a quick response is really needed. No doubt, bad breeders are also less responsive than one would prefer. I cannot tell you which category your breeder is in. Hopefully, you have enough information to decide.
It would seem the polite and right thing to do is to respond within 2 days the latest. Email is one of the fastest and best ways for me to communicate. Paypal should have sent you an email confirming that they have sent the money to the breeder as well so you do have proof.
Concern for your future kittens is justified. When I receive a deposit on a very young kitten I tend to send updates with photos about once a week until close to the time they are ready to leave. Most likely all is well with your kittens and you will hear shortly.
I agree with Teresa it would be nice to have the email let us know when they are gone. I also know it is hard on us who are waiting for their new ones. I thought I would lose it.
When searching for a seal in my state I emailed them all and only one was nice enough to give me a email back saying they did not have any at this time and so that is why I went back to our breeder.
To me lack of commumication sent me away.
Have to go...
The agreement that we had made in the beginning was to communicate by e-mail. The breeder said that would work best for her. To save money, I do not have long distance on my land line. Yet, I also figured that e-mail would be simpler and quicker for the breeder. The breeder lives three hours away in the neighboring state. When I was looking at all the Ragdoll cat breeders I wanted to select one that appeared to be reputable and close enough so that I could travel by car to pick up my kittens when ready. I understand that being a breeder must be a hugh investment of time, labor, money and love. Yet, I would be satisfied if she sent me an e-mail and only said,"They're fine".
She may feel that not getting back is the message that both are fine - no news is good news. Next time, just articulate that you had asked how they are and, since you had not heard back about it, you were getting concerned that that means something is wrong with them. Hopefully, that will stimulate an A-OK message.
Good idea! Thanks!

I only worry because you and your friend had problems with this breeder originally too. I hope everything works out for you, and I know everyone is going to breathe a collective sigh of relief for you when you get your kittens.
